Sonic Youth Gossip - post comething completely irrelevant!

& it's not that this kid or the group is offensive. It's all done with respect to Native American traditions. But it's all being done by a bunch of white teenage boys and their white suburban Scout leaders.

Maybe some intrepid filmmaker among us might investigate this through a documentary project.

you only have to have 1/64'th to claim Native American heritage. I believe that it's 1/16th to be part of the tribe.

I've done that. The organization I was with was the Tribe of Tahquitz. There are a number of dance styles and I was Southern traditional straight dance. At first I thought it was weird and off-putting, but the more I learned about Native American lore the more I was attracted to it.
