If I gotta slap a pussy-ass ni**a, I'ma make it look sexy If I gotta go hard on a bitch, I'ma make it look sexy I pull up, hop out, air out, made it look sexy They won't take me out my element, Nah, take me out my element It's as close to being better than TPAB as anyone could possibly expect. The songs are so immediate, so catchy. Damn. "DNA." ... what a way to start an album! That shit goes so fucking hard it's insane!! He's just knocking it out of the park time and time again. With the exception of untitled unmastered. Which really isn't an "album," he's had nothing but near-perfect records. This one feels a bit to me like the Yeezus to his MBDTF. Yeah everything comes back to Kanye for me, but that's it. DAMN. is a great fucking album. |
Over 40 years after forming The Only Ones and 20 since he last released any new music, Peter Perrett's got his debut solo album, How The West Was Won, coming June 30 via Domino.
http://www.dominorecordco.com/uk/new...-west-was-won/ What the hell is wrong with you people that all you post about here is hip-hop, electronica and indie reunions? |

I know, and I bitched about this before already... It's just that there are other things going on in the music world (I posted "announcements" of new albums by Devon Sproule and Bash & Pop, for instance) and I find the overall focus of this thread rather narrow. |
I'm looking forward to this new Ray Davies album. It doesn't actually sound quite like "my kind of thing," but I love me some Kinks, and his voice just does something special to my brain, like Paul Westerberg's or Jeff Tweedy's — two artists who would probably be super down with this album.

But isn't it being blocked by some legal action? Thought I heard that somewhere. Would be awesome if it really became available tomorrow. |

Ok, so speaking of Prince (that ^^ is fucking rad by the way), I just realized that I have no idea where my copy of Sign O' the Times is.
My iPod Classic was wiped after what I expect was a buggy iTunes update confused to old software, and I lost, like, MONTHS of music. This is my main device for listening, as it is in my car and I take it to the office every day. I began the tedious task of re-loading my most favorite-favorite music on the thing (the Sonic Youths, Kanyes, Aphex Twins, and so on) and I couldn't find my copy of Sign O' The Times anywhere. Tore my place apart looking for it. No luck. I Fucking used to have it on Vinyl and CD, and that was nice. But for the last few years it's just been CD, and now nothing. I was so fucking upset. I realized that it's a desert island album for me. Not being able to put it RIGHT back on my iPod was a super shitty feeling. I want a reissue of THAT. Of Sign. That's THE Prince album right there. |
This one comes out on Friday, May 5:

Also, for those who give a shit, there's a new Afghan Whigs album out now on Sub Pop.
From what I've been able to glean so far, it's strong. Perhaps not as strong as Do to the Beast, but its early yet. The Afghan Whigs - In Spades ![]() |
