You saying this DOESN'T happen? because I have seen it first hand, TWICE, years apart, where a girl/woman accuses someone of forcing themselves on them when in fact they were cheating on their boyfriend's with said fella, and just made up the shit to cover their asses. the first time, the poor guy got arrested and expelled from University of Houston alll before she finally admitted she was lying. Can you imagine? watch where you dip yr wicks fellas! |
Yeah that happens for sure, and it's always by cheating girls.
I was at a party when I saw my friend making out with this chick that everyone knew, and she was grabbing on him and shit and then they dissapeared for awhile and both came back to the party smiling. Duh right? except she tried to tell her boyfriend at the time that he raped her...ha. She didnt try to go to the cops or anything and they dont talk anymore. fucked up. |
so knox, a question for you-- in the other thread you complained that your ex bf liked to jerk off listening to kim gordon's songs
i know you answer withhow he would filter out the content of kim's lyrics etc, but here's my question 1) do you deny men the right to wank as they please? 2) aren't we allowed to have our choice of soundtrack, lighting, bedding, curtains, etc? [edit] 3) was the dude in question a native english speaker? or non-native? [/edit] i know i asked you flippantly about having a spank bank (ha), but seriously, is there anything intrinsically wrong with this? because i feel oppressed. well, not really, but why would you deny anyone their sexual freedom if they are not harming anyone? 'splain... --- oops-- sorry, it was in this thread, but i meant to post it in the "aren't you ashamed of the way you view men" thread |
theres a article in the new statesman
Popular culture fosters the delusion that violence against women is edgy art rather than daily reality. This week, as the bodies of murder victims in Bradford and Brighton are picked over by the courts, cinemas, magazines and catwalks are teeming with glossy images of the rape, battery and dismemberment of pretty young ladies who appear artfully complicit in their abuse. Michael Winterbottom's new two-hour murder-porn epic, The Killer Inside Me, hits cinemas next week, and advance reviews have already carried gushing descriptions of its graphic denoument, in which Casey Affleck's sheriff Lou Ford (pictured above) beats his lover to death with his bare fists, whispering how sorry he is over the sound of crunching facial bones. How terribly edgy. Apologists for this type of thoughtless sexualised violence have described The Killer Inside Me as iconoclastic and challenging. The photographer Tyler Shields responded with similar righteous indignation to criticisms of his latest series of stills, which feature a bestockinged Lindsay Lohan covered in blood and flashing bedroom eyes at the muzzle of a gun. Shields and Lohan defended the shots as art, but they look suspiciously like bland, mass-market, coffee-table misogyny of the type you can buy at Urban Outfitters for a fiver. Art can shock in all sorts of valuable ways, sometimes by reflecting real life and sometimes by conjuring uncomfortable fantasy. But art that tries to get a reaction by dressing everyday misogynist brutality in a lacy thong and sexy lighting has lost its utility as social commentary. The whole discourse is a lazy fallback, a stand-in for authentic subversion when creatives can't be bothered to do anything new. After even the screechy million-dollar engineered catfight America's Next Top Model has featured a high-profile fashion shoot of young girls posing as murder victims, representations of violence against women can no longer be considered iconoclastic. They are consummately mainstream. The relentlessness of these images normalises sexual violence, fashioning kinky little set pieces out of the abuse of women on an industrial scale. Also in cinemas this week is Robert Cavanah's Pimp, a juddering fairground ride of beatings and buggery whose sharp-suited, snarling hero deals out disciplinary rapes and executions with a flick of a prop-box cane. The protagonist is played without a shred of irony by Danny Dyer, in whose name a column appeared in last month's Zoo blithely advising a reader to cut his ex-girlfriend's face "so no one will want her". Meanwhile, yesterday's Telegraph carried the following headlines: "Woman and son murdered in Derbyshire village"; "Remains of second prostitute found"; "Spanish imam's 'prostitute jihad' ". The paper couldn't even find space to mention the ongoing trial of the man accused of killing Andrea Waddell, who was found strangled and burned in her Brighton flat last year. "Seeing these stories listed together is so upsetting -- especially as in two cases they didn't refer to the victims as women or as human beings," said Laurie Olivia of the London Feminist Network. "Sometimes I wonder how we will ever get on top of this. I can't believe people say there is no need for feminism and that we have equality." The press has taken pains to describe Waddell, Susan Armitage and other recent victims of sexual violence as "prostitutes", implying that the fact these women sold sex legitimises or explains the attacks. This is a profoundly internalised prejudice. Jessica Alba, who plays a murdered sex worker in The Killer Inside Me, told the Sunday Times that she felt her character "had a death wish, because she was always egging [the killer] on or provoking him". The message is clear: women secretly want to be brutalised in naughty lingerie, especially if they are involved in the sex trade. There is nothing edgy or iconoclastic about violence against women: it is a daily feature of the lives of ordinary people, including those who do not happen to be models or film stars. Films like The Killer Inside Me are part of a weary language of blithe, murderous complicity that is deeply encoded in the overculture. That language is not edgy. It's not exciting. It's poor taste, pure and simple. ___________________________________ she makes a few good points. all those examples plus the mysogyny and crap thats been on the board lately, it almost makes you think there is some sort of wider cultural change in the way the concept of woman is seen at the moment. |

Because being a "feminist" is fucking bullshit that turns you into a sexist, hypocritical, idealist little goody two shoes. |
some of those fathers mentioned need a slap in the face. so fucking what if it wasn't your sperm. it's a child. its never "yours" as if its your property or something. what is the big deal? are you narcissitic about your particular genes? thats stupid vanity, and it shouldn't be respected. you should be happy to have the chance to take care of it. it says that "it can lead to domestic violence". that's pathetic.
|
for those of you interested in a really fucked up journalistic report on violence against women in on of the usa's most impoverished communities, check this out:
http://www.hulu.com/watch/152928/van...he-reservation watched it yesterday. if it doesn't piss you off and make you shudder... not sure it will stream to limeyland, but you can try. |
Fuck that... I'm not raising some dickheads little snot machine.

whatever the fuck you turned into is worse than the greatest misconception of feminism your brain could ever conjure. stupidest thing posted so far in this thread, and thats quite an accomplishment, considering the tight competition on this page alone. |
Quote:
sorry, i'm not going to side with that. besides, i'm tired of everyone trying to answer for somebody else, so i'll wait for knox. and the question is not bait, for the record. |
Quote:
I noticed that too. It seems as though the girls have taken off to somewhere else. I thought maybe it is the time of day i come on here. |
Quote:
the board used to have a lot more people posting, period. sure there were lots more women; however, i'm not sure the female/male ratio has changed-- it's more like the population has diminished altogether. this board used to move up 5 pages a day now you're lucky if 1/2 page of new content is created. and i'm not talking about charles webster baer threads. |
not only women bring up the fake rape cases
it happened to me after record store day, i pick up my hits are for squares 2xlp off the shelf and am immediately introduced to a guy named rob who says he'll do anything or anyone to help his sonic youth collection.normally i'm not interested in males but he was holding a magazine that had me quite aroused called "big latin azz" and i thought to myself that he had a big latin azz himself. i was an absolute gentlemen with him the whole evening and took him to el pollo loco. 2 days later i'm at the police station because apparently he's instigated sexual assault charges against me |
Quote:
it took me a minute to realize this was a fiction and then i couldn't stop laughing |
Quote:
God. It was a joke. FFS. nobody is trying to take your wank time from you, chill. |
Quote:
it was a joke? you really sounded serious-- pissed off even. Quote:
"oh, i get it, ha ha ha"? ok, whatever. Quote:
i didn't feel that was against me personally or that you'd have any control, though i was puzzled about your attitude towards your purported ex. |
Quote:
I do it, but I can't help it (and then later, I'm surprised that some of them are female, like Nefeli noticed). |
i know that last time when i mentioned something you had specifically addressed to knox you were bewildered and indignant about it for about 3 posts. but yeah, knox has was being very polite because that really was the stupidest thing you have said so far.
someone needs to go read over their own posts and pull their heads out of their asses. and in the mean time stop talking because you are unable to comprehend that someone else expressing something they feel in a way that is borderline autistic. you actually can't tolerate what knox said and see it as some sort of affront to your right to jack off, and then comes another volley of questions, as if she has no right to feel that way. at least no right to feel that way without having to listen to you make absolutely unrelated and, again, moronic points. |
Quote:
are you speaking for knox and do you think she cannot speak for herself? wow, that's patronizing. |
Quote:
wow. no you fucking idiot. i am speaking for myself. she speaks for herself and has been doing so. that has nothing to do with me. i am addressing the utter bilge that you are saying not because of who you are addressing it to, but because it is such crap. or do you think that when a male speaks aswell as a female what he says has to be more important than what she says and so the thing that has to be listened to? why is it that you can't grasp that more than one person can be speaking about something. |
Quote:
no, that's not what i meant at all-- there's a lot of dudes who used to post here regularly, and now don't post or rarely do, from savage clone to crypto. this place used to be lots busier in general. |
Quote:
you're saying what knox said, meant, was doing, etc. i know-- you read minds. |
ladies and gentlemen, the man who cannot take his head out of his asshole.
the man who thinks because i am making a descriptive comment about knoxs post, calling it polite, i am speaking on her behalf. wow, no wonder you find it completely impossible to listen to what a female is saying over and over and over again. you really do have some sort of problem listening to them. and it's innate and automatic because you have failed to realise every single time. |
Quote:
i'm trying to understand, but you're getting on the way instead. yes-- you're the self-appointed spokesman for women. you listen to everything they say & know it absolutely. all of them. amazing. |
Quote:
by the way, this is an utterly demented little rant by you. my right to jack off? i didn't feel threatened in the least. i spoke of "men" as a category per the title of this thread. i did feel a little sorry for the (now fictional) boyfriend, and knox said she'd discuss anything, so i took her on her word. do you feel the need to dominate this thread and impose your views on others? or are you going to let people try to have a conversation, however unpleasant/ bothersome/ inappropriate/ impure it may seem to you? |
and more shit continues to flow out of your mouth.
if you want to try and understand then go back to the top of the page and try again. then see the glaring and obvious mistake you made. it's right there, go on, look. something tells me you won't be able to shut the fuck up long enough to see it tho, all that will result is more of this self justifying bullshit that you seem to think cancels out how anyone else is entitled to feel, because you have last word syndrome so go on, take it, its yours. it's obvious to anyone that you are behaving like an idiot, other people have already mentioned this to me. anyone can see it, they wouldn't even need to read womens minds! they could do what you simply can't and read what a woman has actually said, and then, you know, think about it, instead of... yeah i've told you this already. |
Quote:
ok, board pope! i have been deemed sinful in the eyes of other people and i have no right to speak! wow, if i did what every other asshole tells me, i'd be you by now. |
jesus christ symbol.
the story wasn't fictional. you're smarter than that. here I am, with this recently acquired stupid boyfriend who claims to be a big sonic youth fan. i get excited obviously, lets discuss the albums. he tells me a whole shitload of crap about the 'political context' of the certain albums and whatnot. so we're having a half-serious conversation about that. i mention that if he's going to analyse lyrics, kim's songs can be quite interesting. he says yes but you know what her songs are really good for? wanking. and i think "oh, how appropriate and insightful". and i always sound serious and pissed off. im rarely ever serious but always pissed off. |
Quote:
i think he's just saying what he thinks. after all it's a public discussion so anyone can say whatever they want. |
Quote:
us girls gotta stick together. |
Quote:
well, good to know you think that. but don't assume i'm going to understand everything you say outright. Quote:
ok, so he was maybe clumsy or juvenile or had bad timing while trying to open up to you about what turns him on. but where's the joke? maybe i'm not as smart as you think, or maybe i'm approaching this situation from a totally different place than you, but i feel a little sorry for the poor bastard. |
Quote:
i know that. but i'm not sure he does. Quote:
yes-- but not according to him, no. |

I have never in my 36 years had a woman ask me to talk about sonic youth ANYTHING, other than saying they like my t-shirt. (only band T's I have are Sonic Youth. Maybe 12 now.)
