^ This sounds like the 1980s. I mean, I was tossed back into my childhood.

I'm enjoying that one myself right now.

Your Own Portable Clarinette: A Free Collection of Free Music by Clarinette
"Free to all, a 2 hour and 37 minute sampling of Clarinette through the years. In no particular order the collection includes tracks from early albums like Haze on vinyl on Ecstatic Peace/Father Yod from 2002 to The Now Of Then on vinyl on Feeding Tube from 2017 and including something from every album and EP as well as a handful of tracks never officially released, plus one new thing that I haven't even found a home for or even finished! Still no clarinets but lots of guitars, pianos, noise, drones and bounding sound." |

Daniel Menche - “D'entre les morts". (Mastered by Andrew Liles)
Menche was asked to do the “soundtrack” for the book, D'ENTRE LES MORTS. The book is about a man on a train who is eating glass and becoming insane. Menche recorded trains and glass crunching under his feet along with other sounds and electronic noises......20:02 long. The book comes with a 3” CD of the recording. |

The Sheffield Tape Archive has a bunch of live shows and more for a name-your-price: "A series of archive recordings from around 1980 onwards: Sheffield bands, demos, concerts and rarities..." Even though I have 2.7 million Fall shows, I'm getting the four they have there! :) Give it a look: there's also The Gun Club, Clock DVA, Marc Riley & The Creepers (!), Crass...

even though one could argue that they stole every riff from SY, these guys ain't bad at all. There's a new live album on their bandcamp: Live At The Savior (2018) by Brother James |
^
Agree, agree. (Dear lord, are they even using the same tunings?) But I notice whenever I hear a band heavily influenced by SY, they seem to miss something ineffable yet essential, which just makes me appreciate SY all the more. |
"Tolerancia Picante", new album by MoE + Mette Rasmussen:
https://moepages.bandcamp.com/album/tolerancia-picante Anne Waldman digs it: ![]() MoE/Rasmussen are currently on tour in Japan. Joakim got sick so they are having guest drummers, and the last show of the tour will probably be an explosion: Guro Moe, The Skaset, Mette Rasmussen, Masataka Fujikake, and Keiji Haino performing as a quintet. |

Holy crap! No physical release, though, right? At least I can't find one at https://www.invada.co.uk/collections/all-products. Anyway, this is the shit! And Gillian Anderson looks better than she did when the original X-Files were on! Not that it matters! But still! 50 is the new 25! |
Age is only a number. PJ Harvey is aging quite well also. I'm basically the same age as both these people and seeing their career trajectories blossom has been a wonderful part of my life.
|
I think a physical release will happen at some point. I know some releases which were planned for the spring, had to be pushed a little bit due to pressing plants being busy re-pressing stuff for Record Store Day. Maybe it was the case with this release as well?

Well, in the meantime we should start a thread about this OH WAIT I already did exactly a month ago :D : http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/sho...d.php?t=118741 A link to download my online capture of the BBC 4 program is there now. I listened to it again the other night and it's not only excellently done, it shows Polly remarkably open to share the creative process. Only a masochist wouldn't wanna hear it! |

"La Bufa" by MoE, songs about feminicide in Mexico, and the american dream/nightmare. Recorded at Testa Estudio in León, Guanajuato: Said to be an almost exact replica of Electrical Audio (Steve Albini has even worked there a few times lately), and the resident engineer apparently follows Albini's methods closely, so of course MoE's powerful sound is presented in a very crisp yet slamming manner... Also, accordingly, some bass parts had to be re-recorded by the band when they were back in Norway. This is a huge favorite on my record collection.

Big Ups: Wilco's Jeff Tweedy Picks His Bandcamp Favorites
"No matter how much he has on his plate, Wilco's prolific frontman Jeff Tweedy still sets aside part of each Friday to discover new music. 'If you'd told me when I was 12 or 13 that every Friday I could listen to basically every new record that came out, I'd basically lose my mind,' Tweedy says with a laugh, over a phone call before a show in Italy in support of his band's tremendous new album, Ode to Joy. 'Sometimes I form opinions about stuff that isn't for me, like modern country, that I'm just curious about. It's insane sounding, but I try to listen to everything.'" I imagine O'Rourke would definitely be there and that Bill Orcutt could be, but I didn't know he was a big Grouper fan. NOICE. |

Things have changed (heh): ![]() ![]() The physical editions include two bonus tracks: the demos for "The Sandman" and "The Moth", sung by Harvey instead of Anderson and James. A remix of "The Sandman" by the play's sound designer, Tom Gibbons, has been added as a third bonus in virtual format. You can find all three tunes in FLAC here, and, uh, probably elsewhere. |
