Good post. |
I'm afraid to come to this thread anymore. Shit's too fucking real.
Yes, he betrayed campaign promises by attacking Syria. He also betrayed the American people and arguably our own military, as well as foreign allies. There is nothing funny about this. There is no "Orange" joke that will act as a balm for this. I don't have any words. Are we living with a puppet dictator whose purpose is to be overthrown so something worse can step in? Or is this just how things work now? The president can do essentially anything he likes, and most of his party will stand by because the party line and getting a pro-lifer into the Suoreme Court is more important than anything else? I'm disgusted. |
yup. I also think the statement about not needing to remove Assad by Tillerson and Trimp played right into this. Sort of gave free rein. Syria is claiming that an air strike hit a chem weapon site operated by the resistance. I do think that there should be considerable evidence available to show what really happened. I hope that Trimp was able to get reliable evidence before making the move. The timing, at least, was very poor. Condemnation at the UN and provision of evidence to the world would have at least given some rationale for the cruise missles.

they're shameless...I imagine kars for kids scammers will start singing about syrian children shortly. "Donate your property or boat so we can help the poor devastated syrian children..." “Never let a good crisis go to waste” ― Winston S. Churchill This is like living in Soviet Cuba. NBC took Maddow off the air while the missiles were flying. While Maddow is generally a DNC parrot, she does have admirable antiwar views and would have broken the 'beautiful' narrative. They brought Brian Williams in to quote Leonard Cohen? http://dailywesterner.com/news/2017-...assads-regime/ [scroll to the bottom to see the original page screenshot] |
just listened to linsday graham ask for 6,000 ground troops in syria and a threat to shoot down the russians

My go-to excuse for Graham and McCain is that war is viagra to them, and they're wanting to get frisky 24-7

That was weird with Brian Williams. That was super weird. "Identity politics" is thrown around as a snowflake term referring to gender and shit, but people are REALLY, LITERALLY contributing to a culture of self-identification through ideology. Williams wants the world to know he feels all the feels that a good Putin-hating American liberal ... y'know... feels. In this instance, because he's anti-Trump, he's also anti-Putin, so he said his ridiculous, utterly fucking absurd thing to toe the ideological line. I Fucking hate Trump. I Fucking hate Putin. I tend to be more liberal than conservative, but I still abhor unnecessary violence -- murder, committed for political gain, as proof that Trump isn't in Putin's pocket... I hated it when Obama flexed his military muscle, and I hated it when Bush did. I'm not so wrapped up in "identity politics" (hey, if they can take "fake news," why can't we take their shitty ass words?) that I'm going to just place a stamp of approval on whatever idiotic thing that may publically make me look more like I belong with the group I've chosen. I.e. looking like I'm the epitome of my political beliefs which no matter what the cost. And, being currently in the minority because I'm a "liberal," defining myself through opposing what "liberals" are not "supposed" to like. --- That's what Williams did, and he made himself look distinctly non-liberal in the process. It's all about appearance and party allegiance and I think some of the people in the public eye who are saying things that are as off-the -rails stupid as what Williams said are actually quite confused about what they are/aren't "supposed" to think. Did that make any sense? Symbols? Anyone? Oh, and Maddow isn't a DNC parrot. She's a liberal and a Democrat, but calling her a "DNC parrot" is not inaccurate and, honestly, I'm not even 100% sure wht you even mean by that. |

OK, this whole "Russia is so evil for protecting Assad" and "US-Russia relations are at an all-time low" and

Duh. Yeah, it's some flashy misdirection. "Oh, well, Trump upset Russia (supposedly) so clearly there was no connection." People are buying it too. My liberal friends are saying, "Great, now we're going to war with Russia," and my conservative "friends" are saying "See? Look, nothing suspicious happened because obviously." It's fucking unbearable. It's all so goddamn stupid, and even major media outlets are helping the narrative along. Newsweek: "Trump isn't in Putin's pocket, but that shouldn't make us feel any better.[/i] Really? You're sure that he isn't in Putin's pocket because he did something while under investigation for being in Putin's pocket that makes it look like he's not? Great investigative journalism, assfucks. |
And, given that he's a sucker for social validation and striking Syria was the first thing he's done since 2011 that hasn't been condemned by "the center", he got plastered on power and today he dropped the next largest thing to a nuke in Afghanistan. Fasten your seatbelts.

what seatbelts?
this is a freefall! |
