That said, as much as I love one half of A&E, (as mentioned earlier, of has some of their best 00s moments) the other half is lacking. For one thing there are far too many "fire" ananalogies. Also, the lyrics tend to be cliche, but not in an ironic way.

The album isn't split, like the first half is good, the second shire, but it is equal parts awesome and mediocre.

I cannot find fault with any of the other LPs , though Grace is probably my least fave

No, I meant which of the Plain Recordings LP reissues sucked. Sorry for the confusion.

Are you referring to Plain reissues in general, or Spiritualized specifically? Either way I don't believe I've yet encountered one that disappointed me that much. In fact, like you, I've been largely impressed.

Why? Are you thinking of one particular reissue that "sucks"?

gmku 03.10.2012 03:29 PM

No, it's just somebody above mentioned that Plain Recordings quality isn't always good. I haven't noticed a problem with anything I have on that label. In fact, I'd say Plain Recordings is superior to most reissue labels these days.

My Bloody Valentine - Lost Tracks and Rare Cuts. Great LP but ugly packaging and song sequencing. I plan on re-sequencing the songs for my home tape.

Sonic Youth - SYR 9 LP

After another Friday charity shop trawl:

This (although the cover of the version I got is much better than this one):

And one for Mrs Pookie:

I blew my wad this week. I'm forcing myself to wait another pay day before spending more on vinyl. I am lusting after some Birthday Party LPs, though. Don't know if I'll make it.

the ikara cult 03.23.2012 06:47 PM

Prayers is their greatest album, definitely! Although they´ve made nothing that isn´t great. Never heard their peel sessions, have to listen someday!

I had smoe extra cash...I was going to get Blonde Redhead's Fake can be just as Good...but then I saw the LR LP, and it was 15 bucks so I picked LR LP instead.

Madonna MDNA

The critics have totally panned this but I do really like it. It's not as good as Confessions of a Dancefloor (my fave of her albums) but it's quite similar in feel and far better than Hard Candy. There are some really bad songs on it but no more and no worse than there are on all of her albums (even Confessions) and there's some real gold here too. Girls Gone Wild is an early contender for my single of the year. Possibly my favourite Madonna album cover, too. Good stuff.

Sheena85 03.29.2012 06:00 AM

My last one was Diamond Eyes by Deftones. A little too late I know, it's been a while since it was issued but somehow I never had a chance to grab my copy...shame on me :)

I'm curious about this. Madonna usually has at least one incredible song per album, even at her worst.

Where's you pick up the Sliver/Dive single? I remember seeing a cheap new pressing of it at hot topic in the early 00s.

Hopefully you didn't get it there.

I've never heard anything from Sun Araw, just had the urge to buy this album after The Wire put it at number 12 on their best of list for 2011. He was also on the cover last issue, and Drag City is such a great label, so I wanted give them some money.

SpaceCadetHayden 04.17.2012 12:01 PM

a bunch of gerogerigegege(shenzuri power up, endless humiliation, recollections of primary masturbation, tokyo anal dynamite and others)
a new copy of bring the neon war home as my other was destroyed
a hot boys cassette

Genteel Death 04.17.2012 02:10 PM

Nice haul, Hayden and KPP. Today, as part of my 7'' month, I've bought this record. The lyrics to ''The Last Time'' are either hilarious or disparaging, depending on which side of the moral spectrum you stand by.

And..an LP that has Mike Watt and Cedric from Mars Volta. It doesn't have much on there except for the musicians names. I guess they're called Anywhere? But yeah I listned to it....sounds pretty rad. It's yer standard rock outfit with what seems to have some world influence.
