Miike is such a hack. He's made like 4 of my favorite films of all time, and I've seen well over 40 of his movies. He's still a hack though. Most of his stuff is terrible. One Missed Call was so bad.

I've just watched Barry Lyndon by Stanley Kubrick for the first time and I have to say it's now one of my favorite movies ever. The best movie Kubrick ever directed.



First of all, the opening shot is absolutely amazing



The whole movie is just perfect and the final duel is just one of the most epic scenes of all time.

Then, I want to quote the text at the very end of the movie which proves that Kubrick is one of the most pessimist directors of all time:

"It was in the reign of George III that the aforesaid personages lived and quarelled. Good or bad, handsome or ugly, rich or poor, they are all equal now."

More or less crap but I enjoyed the hell out of it because of that. Semi-classic blaxploitation. There's better in both trash and blaxploitation, but I had fun with it.

It's worth watching. Should be easy to find online, it's probably on youtube. It's some gay, uh, black men.. in a spaceship.. talking about nothing.. for 27 minutes. It's kinda amusing.

It's not really a movie, it's a concert/music documentary but it's a very good one ! On this, they play awesome versions of songs like "Via Chicago", "Kingpin", "Heavy Metal Drummer", "War on War", "A Shot in the Arm", etc. So, if you love Wilco, just watch it, you won't be disappointed.

HELL YES !

Dead-Air's mentioning of Dead Ringers spurred me into seeing it. I loved it!! Yeah, the bondage scene is brief but good. I'd also really enjoyed the sex in A History of Violence, very memorable.
I'm now hunting down The Fly, which I somehow havent seen since I played it over and over as a kid.
