never. unfortunately

20 or more. Sometimes I try to think back through every show, but it hurts my brain, so I'm not going to right now. In '95 I saw them 3 times, and for Murray Street I saw an instore before the concert that night, otherwise, mostly every year since '85 except in '87 when they played the Central Tavern in Seattle less than a month before I turned 21.

Twice....
Newport, RI in '92 ![]() and Denver, June 27, 2006 ![]() A little shaky, but what the hey ? |

Maybe, but that depends on what you call a "Sonic Youth show." The first time they toured with Pearl Jam, Thurston and Kim couldn't make it to the show in Pittsburgh, so Lee, Steve and Jim played some songs, and Eddie Vedder joined them for a few. You're right, though. You really couldn't say that was Sonic Youth. :+) |
Thank God for the 7-19 option! I think I've seen them about 14 times, but I can't be sure. Considering that that's over the space of twenty years, that isn't particularly dedicated, is it?
|
First time I saw them was in 1993 at Central Park Summerstage July 4th show
After that I didnt see them in person until last year (i was so worried about hearing damage I cut out going to concerts for years...) however last year I saw them at Lollapalooza, and 2 times at McCarren Pool. so counting yesterday 5 times total. |

combined with the additional fact that the band also kicked ass that night, yes. |
I do have to say that 100% was the worst version I've ever heard them do.....and they've played 100% at just about every show I've seen.
Opening up with Jams was great and Rapture sounded perfect. Shaking Hell ruled too. |
"100%" needs things like fans getting hit with instruments at this point.
i don't dislike the way they do it nowadays, but it's not the same. "shaking hell" cannot help but kick ass, and even though it is one of the songs i've seen most by them live, "drunken butterfly" sounded great. i never enjoyed "or" as much at any other show either, haha. |

24 times in eleven years I think.
|
jennthebenn, I was on that show on 8/8/02 in DC too!!! And in my point of view, it was absolutely hillarious!! I was standing in the front row and spending the greatest 1,5 hours in my life so far. The setlist was great too, they played Candle, Skip Tracer, Tom Violence, Shadow of a Doubt, Brother James.
I loved the supporting bands as well, Erase Errata and Mary Timony. |
i have seen them five times but the first one was the best way back in 96.
|
kegmama has seen them about a thousand times. there was one point when there was practically a gig a week.
|
twice.
first in '96. last song: diamond see. best thing to happen to me evaarrr! and then 10 years later, 2 months ago in paris. mindblowing! i think ill be following them around if they come to europe next time. |
once in '98 on the thousand leaves tour in the olympia in dublin. the set was mostly that album+ anagrama, the encore was shadow of a doubt and death valley '69 if i remember correctly. amazing!
|
