Plenty of idiots had the Internet in the mid '90s. It just hadn't quite become anyone's LIFE yet.
Remember how the world was before people lived online, maintained freeing ships online, found partners online and used social media as a journal for every mind numbingly inane and stupid moment of their worthless lives? The kids I work with who are 10, 15 years younger, have never lived in the world of phone books. Never seen a typewriter. Can't fathom a pre-smartphone era, let alone a pre-cell phone era. The world has changed a LOT more between the '90s and the 2000s than it did between the '80s and '90s. Life as we know it is lived differently for almost everyone. But there are always idiots. Everywhere. |
just think. there are kids driving now who weren't born in the 90's. so does that mean the 80's are like what the 60's were to us?

That's exactly what it means. Hah. |

no man. that's not quite it. idiot nerds are not the same as the idiot average person. I doubt you knew one average person that had the internet unless they came from well-to-do families. I had friends that had the internet but, they went to private schools with step dads that were doctors. the culprit seems to be facebook. does anyone need it? wasn't one of the whole points of the greatness of the net was to be anonymous? |

I had the Internet in '95. But my mom was a professor, and we had free dial up through the college. Probably wouldn't have had it otherwise, but by '97, all of my friend had it. We were kind of a nerdy crew, though. |
