Oh come now. Who hasn't seen that album cover?

I really don't like it. Not a bit. I think recent reissues and stuff have opted to keep the original cover, and cover the nip-area with a "deluxe edition" banner, or some other advert or sticker, so those who buy it don't throw up in their mouths until they get home.

Still... yeah. Super duper unsettling, even in the modern era. I really can't believe the cover was ever approved by anyone — not in an era when the Beatles' Yesterday and Today "doll parts" cover was not allowed on shelves. Personally, I think that cover was downright quaint compared to the Blind Faith one. Ughhhh.

I'm surprised The Soup Nazi hasn't chimed in yet with Wussy. Whether it's Chuck Cleaver and Lisa Carver singing separately or together, it's fine stuff.

Like Yo La Tengo and SY, Low is one of the bands that has absolutely defined male/female band dynamics. One of the highest quality examples of this that is out there. 'Course for a population like this, consisting entirely of Sonic Youth fans, I'd wager Low is already quite well known.

Still... LOW.

Did you ever check out the song I recommended? "23" from the album 23?
Here I'll help with that...

Blonde Redhead - "23" (YouTube)

It's not really representative of the band's sound over time (early albums had a good deal more in common with Sonic Youth, more "noise" in the noise-pop) but I think it's a stellar song, and a good example of their work. If you dig that, you should certainly dig most of their later records at least.

I just "discovered" this thread, that's why! :D Also: Wye Oak (though I'm glad Jenn Wasner handles all the vocals now). Also: MARS!
