I have more in mind acoustic but in a twisted and subtle way, drony but with enough hooks that would demand repeated listenings. The fact that their side projects seem to work more than their more recent official albums in terms of showing a more refined texture in their sound could be a point of new start for them if applied to acoustic instruments.

You know that does sound interesting.

I would like the album to sound like Sonic nurse again. Don't know why but the kind of music they made on that album was the kind of music they're supposed to make at this age.

They all should get laptops and make noise out of that. Or they could record themselves conversing with strangers.

So you're suggesting that Sonic Youth are a one-trick ("noise") pony - Is that right?

exactly, hope that experimental vibe stay on every album. well, they love explore possibilities of guitar as an instrument.

sarramkrop 03.21.2007 05:45 AM

Whatever they do, it would be interesting for them to at a least incorporate other intruments other than guitars etc into their sound. It just gets a bit boring after a while.

sonicl 03.21.2007 05:46 AM

Moshe will support you on that one - he seems quite keen for Mats Gustaffson to join the band.

I would appreciate them doing something like they did on NYC G&F. So, further away from "song" structures and more stretched-out soundscapes with high-quality poetic content.

That would satisfy me.

sarramkrop 03.21.2007 05:47 AM

Good choice! I'm sure he'd be fucking great on a SY album.

But really I don't care cos they will make a brilliant album whatever happens.

Wait, Murray Street/Daydream nation are "more soundscapey" than Bad Moon Rising?? I think not.

Don't say stuff like that, you'll hurt his feelings.

noumenal 03.21.2007 10:47 AM

No singing, no drums, little noise.

i think leaving new york and going to nashville had some positive effect on washing machine. similar effects might be achieved with another relocation for recording.
