Yeah, no plot, no story.
There's a couple, and both think they don't love each other anymore, and in the end they're quite sure they don't love each other anymore.
What happened in the meantime?: almost nothing, they've been talking about some other topics (in that way Cassavetes is similar to Godard to me- and many movies with Marcello Mastroiani).
And, France and Switzerland are not communist countries, there's no "ministry of entertainment".
I don't think Goddard needed millions of francs to shoot a movie with basically two actors (a bout de souffle), in a tiny hotel room and in the streets of Paris.
(almost the same for Cassavetes)
