Well, for me I like listening to whole albums on the bus to and from school. I'll usually listen to a whole one while doing homework too. I don't think music players are what caused any lessening of appreciation for whole albums. I think they have only made it easier to not appreciate them.

I had one, it fucked up, yada yada yada. Now I just use my discman. I'm happy with the minimalism at the moment.

Was it running low on batteries? Sometimes you have just to let it "recharge" for a while even if it doesn't give lifesigns when you connect it to the cable. Or try the "reset" trick by keeping menu+central buttons pressed for a few seconds.

i have a Creative Zen Vision, it holds 30GB and it's quite good, i got it cause i hate Apple's near monopolization of the market and Apple and Steve Jobs just annoys the hell out of me,

i agree it will never replace the physical cds, records and tapes, but on the go, i am not gonna carry around several boxes of discs just so i can get the warmth, it is nice to have 5000 songs just handy on the beach (another place you don't wanna take cds), or on public transport
