Yo La Tengo albums seem to have an autumny feel to them.

Your friend must be well fit. The Cornershop fan club now inludes you, Pookie and myself. I remember Pookie saying that he really liked the Lock, Stock & Double-Barrell ep once.

I've just been listening to Sun by Sun (Oren Ambarchi + Chris Townend), and that has a perfect "summer's not quite over yet" cosy warmness to it.

Not even an LP you associate with fall because of a certain time in your life or anything?

Toilet & Bowels 09.26.2007 09:08 AM

not even a rolling stones album that you have listened to in the autumn?

gmku 09.26.2007 10:16 AM

Oh, I'm just pulling your collective leg. Of course there are:

Goats Head Soup (came out in fall 73, I thnk--not my fave Stones, but it reminds me of that fall)
Sticky Fingers
L.A. Woman
Nevermind
EVOL
Daydream Nation
First Ramones LP
My Aim Is True
Several Talking Heads LPs (77 thru Remain in Light especially)
Kind of Blue

I'm sure there are more.

gmku 09.26.2007 12:27 PM

Actually, I think The Modern Lovers is my quintessential autumn album.

The 1969 Live Velvet Underground double LP is a close second.

Magic Wheel Memory 09.26.2007 12:50 PM

Bob Mould - Workbook

Toilet & Bowels 09.26.2007 12:54 PM

to rococo rot - the amateur view

SuperCreep 09.27.2007 07:53 PM

Nick Drake (anything)
Dylan from s/t to John Wesley Harding (BOTT works too)
Simon & Garfunkel (anything)
The Smiths (anything)

I have plenty more, but I won't bore any of you further.

gmku 09.27.2007 07:55 PM

Canonball Adderly's Something Else (which I found on vinyl today)

TML is more a summer album for me, but I could see it working in the fall.

Agreed on the VU live album.

gmku 09.27.2007 08:02 PM

Yeah, with VU live, I think it's the intimate feel of the recording. Like you're in a small club nursing a hot toddy with the lights low while the wind blows outside. "Anyone here have to go to school tomorrow? Yeah, I thought so..."

drrrtyboots 09.27.2007 08:23 PM

Nursing a hot toddy, huh? Sounds pretty autumn-like to me.
