I'm a little like Sonicl in this instance. What I have heard has not made me want to listen to that particular song(s) again, let alone any other Radiohead song(s).
They irritate me more than anything. But I see their worth. |
For me, the problem with Radiohead is Thom Yorke's displeasant voice. I can't stand it. I used to listen to this band when I was 16, I've got their 3 first albums, but now, it bores me like Placebo or other stuffs like that.
They can't be compared to Sonic Youth, there's a gap between them. |
hate them all. except treefingers and that alien song wich i dont know the name of...
its all about that fuckin thom yorke. if he wasnt whineing in every fuckin song, they might be actually quite good. but i hate his 'im soooo depressed pls kill me' attitude in general. |
I couldn't stand the entirety of Hail To The Thief at first; it sounded like 80s indie-wannabe music, but it's grown on me, once I gave it a chance...

Thom Yorke has a bad habit of singing too much on the track, or at worst, doing his affectations way too much...but the music is usually great, and they still have a bunch of great songs nevertheless. |
There's a couple of them that I really really can't stand. Let me see:
Dollars&Cents Life in a Glass House I Will We Suck Young Blood (this one especially...oh GOD, it's horrible!) The Amazing Songs of Orgy Like Spinning Plates (album version) I Might be Wrong (a good tune, but awful production) Electioneering Mellatonin You And Whose Army? Reckoner Morning Bell (Amnesiac Version) Well, as I see, pretty much all of Amnesiac got on the list. |
all of pablo honey, its just the blueprint for razorlight!

Guitars are quite good nevertheless. |

I really think he's a great drummer. not one of those "HEY LOOK AT ME!!" kind of drummer, a subtle kind of greatness. |

I can't stand Thom Yorke's voice. Yeah, they have some good music and sometimes it works with him droning over it, but i never saw what people see in him. Whiny and quite annoying...
|
if brad mehldau didn't do a bunch of their tunes, i probably wouldn't respect 'em as much/ cuz going back to the points others have made, there are problems with t(h)om doing too much of his thing >and somebody might think i chose atari cuz he wore the tee a few times >and other elements as well less often creep in not the song creep but still/ still glad they're around<, they really shook up the music biz this time around<
and run on... |
It annoys me that a lot of people are judging the band on the basis of thoms voice. I'm not (anymore) a big radiohead fan but i dont fucking understand how any of you kind of people judge your music. On the point of vocals being a basis f or whether you like something or not, it's very easy to pick holes in kim gordons vocals or thurstons, lees or indeed probably half the music the majority of people here listen to. It's crazy and makes me think people don't know what the hell they're talking about.

I must admit it was not a very convincing argument...
|
so
does thom have more of (a) michael stipe disease or (b) billy corgan disease ? 'syndrome' a better word choice than 'disease?' |
I don't even know what you are referring to with "disease."
But since he and Michael Stipe are close friends, I'll go with Stipe. |
He has a 'Thom Yorke' sundrome... Which is like a David Cronenberg videodrome, only sunnier...
|
the new one is sunnier than most of their others

yeah, was thinking that too, but billy is more fun to pick at |
