I'm surprised that some of you still haven't figured out that these videos are overdubbed. It took me a minute, but sheeesh! Whoever made these must be a genius.
The Santana one is pure gold, by the way. |
It was done pretty well. I noticed it wasn't always in sync. But then most stuff on Youtube isn't.

metallica's video for one-the double bass drum section is awesome. i love how sometimes he'll randomly throw in a quote of iron man or something like that. |

Brilliant. This has been one of my favourite functions of youtube, the ability to watch frankly appaling shredding which, nonetheless, is entirely awesome. If you can't appreciate shredding, well, you have no taste for the patently ridiculous and are therefore destined to work in an estate agents for minimal pay.

Exactly, I knew after a few seconds that the audio couldn't be Vai and I scrolled down and looked at the comments too. Oh well, many people have no eye for detail, and in this case, no ear either. Haha, all the other people responding in this thread sure look foolish and gullible. The thing is, I bet less people would fall for one like this featuring Santana because more people have heard "Black Magic Woman" or have seen some of Santana's Woodstock performance. But, when it comes to Steve Vai, haha, how quick they were to all judge. Hilarious! |
But you like the Sex Pistols.

spaeking of steve vai, i totally saw crossroads a couple of hours ago; so much wankery at the climax of the movie is hilarious and vai's defeat is fucking priceless.

overdubbed, ironic, whatever, I think we can all agree it would all be much better if it was
"Steve Vai, Shredded" |
They cannot hold a candle to Mr. Fastfinger.

I never mentioned that I liked Steve Vai. All in all, I don't like Steve Vai, not really. Yet I have been exposed to Steve Vai. He plays on Public Image, Ltd's Album (generic/untitled) and, like some I suppose, I remember his stuff with David Lee Roth. I also had this guitar playing friend (worked at a restaurant with him years ago) that loved him and would always try to get me to listen to his music when we would get together to jam. I'd always be trying to get him to switch the tape or cd to Jeff Beck, 'cause he had all those as well. Usually, he would just torture me haha with Joe Satriani next instead. Although, Satriani isn't all bad, if it has to come right down to it. |
The original of that isn't that bad. I'd actually go as far to say that it's some pretty tasty playing.
The overdub is just brilliant though. |
