Haha, I meant of Green Day's vintage. Ramons were responsible for loads of great punk bands of the late 80's, and Sonic Youth as well.

As for the Buzzcocks, I don't listen to them. Old school punk isn't my thing.

im not sure what qualifies as seminal but five 'classic' bands ive never seen the point of (much) are

1. ac/dc
2. soundgarden
3. led zeppelin
4. guns n roses
5. janes addiction

Oh yeah, ACDC.
Never dug them at all.
Jane's Addiction too but I don't see them as seminal.

Battles (yes sorry I don't get heir music)
Red Hot Chili Peppers (but who seriously thinks they're great...)

I hate Bono but some of U2's music is actually amazing (Achtung Baby especially).

Seminal bands or not, I don't like the following at ALL:

1. AC/DC (God, does ANYONE here actually like them?)
2. Dinosaur Jnr (They were OK when Lou Barlow was in them, but after that they became a sort of Steppenwolf for the Converse generation)
3. Shellac (Boring, boring, boring, etc.)
4. Smashing Pumpkins (I've never knowingly listened to a single record they've made, but just by looking at them and reading their interviews I just know that they're rubbish.)
5. Nirvana (I know they meant a lot to some people, but I'll be buggered if I know why.)

Fair enough. And there was me being all deluded and thinking they were crap. You live and learn, as they say.

well, i'm not saying you're deluded, but you did ask if anyone actually likes them. personally i don't understand what's not to like.

I suppose I've just never 'got' them. I've tried a few times but, nope, nothing. Maybe its the vocals, which play a massive part in my inability to fully appreciate other bands, such as Led Zep.

the buzzcocks, descendents, adolescents, the ramones, screeching weasel etc.. were all responsible for pop punk, so i don't know if you want to retract that statement or not.
