Hey thanks anomolly. I should have noticed but I overlooked it.... ![]() |
Great pics everyone. Hey, remember when Thurston was talking to the guy w/ long hair? Well, guess who. ;-) It came as a shock that he was actually speaking to me, but behold, my wildest dream came true.
& the show was spectacular BTW. |
you must be joking! what t was speaking to you ?
|
I can confirm that! He did speak to marleypumpkin directly. I managed to snag a broken string and a setlist, plus a ton of pics.

Thanks for backing up my story. & some great photos by the way. Unfortunately when I was at the merch table, after the show, I left my camera. I'm still kicking myself for that, not to mention a bruise from smacking my head on the monitor. Oh well, all part of the Sonic Experience. & I'll say it again, I hope someone recorded the audio for this show. |

"Long hair is punk rock", you gotta love it. Thanks for posting the link. Now, all we need is to see that red afro on Thurston. |
Anybody know anything about the green Jazz Thurston was playing? I'd never seen it before.

I was only 3 people away from you ! The two people in their HOLE T-shirts separated us ! How funny ! Yeah man..I was right under Kim and you were right under Thurston ... Yeah, Thurston was all saying how he had always wanted to grow his hair out but hadn't yet. He said he STILL was GONNA though...funny shit ! |
That was by far the most entertaining show i've seen. all i can remember about the green jazzmaster is that it didnt have a headstock logo and that the finish wasn't stock. I also got one of Thurston's picks. he uses dunlop .60mm nylons if anyone cares
|
There's nothing like it in the gearography The finish has definitely been redone. It's just listed as "green" on the selist for Mote and Bull In the Heather. Perhaps this one's been refinished?

It would have to have had a new neck to because the neck looks brand new in the picture where Thurston is walking away from it. maybe it was put together using random parts. or maybe its a custom one because i think the pickguard was custom (no hole for tone knob or rhythm circuit.)
|
It's hard to say. The headstock on that one split and it's listed as having a new JM neck, but no mention of custom pickguard or refin.
There's a green JM listed with no pic in the gear guide for Bull in the Heather, but it was only used in 1995. |
I was kinda surprised Kim only played guitar on one song, I think, IIRC. Shaking Hell.
That one she played was trashed ! |
Yep, Shaking Hell. It's that old beat up red Jag that they've had for 20 years and surprisingly wasn't stolen in 1999.

Yeah, I chose Thurston's side this time, 'cuz last show I saw I was on Lee's side. & it was better than I could ever have expected. I meant to tell you, I love this pic that you took... ![]() So, what was everyone's favorite song performed at the show? I'd say mine was "Candle". |

his guitar tech made it for him last year. Neck is a real vintage '65 neck. Allparts ash body & pickguard, vintage tailpiece, seymour duncan antiquity pickups. |
