ha . . . jeezus wuld wancha t' spel gud. i must note, however, that after 4 years of catholic school i know that those are not crucifixes, but crosses . . . a crucifix has an image of jesus on it and is generally used in catholic churches, whereas a cross does not and is generally used in protestant churches. |
every year in middle school, my goal was to go to the scripps national spelling bee. i never made it past regionals.

Business is really dead today after picking up earlier in the week. My business has been worse than usual since July 4th.
(which really fucks with the shell game) It comes in waves. Most days the phone rings at least twice an hour if not non-stop. Today I've only gotten like three phone calls & two orders online. pl. me·nin·go·coc·ci (a bacterium) I could have sworn this was pronounced cocci (coss-eye) not (cock-eye)...so I checked & the judge did say it right. just a minute ago the judges had to review audio tape because they didn't hear the word the speller spelled...crazy, I & the announcers heard it just fine. This guy just got eliminated tryng to spell "ouvert" which is a ballet move. He tried to spell it "houver", which was pretty funny. They give you some time to play along at home before the spelling is displayed on the screen. I just got a phone call & an order. Coverage is over now & they are in round 7 heading into the prime time broadcast...I didn't get a chance to see how many spellers are left. I think around twenty. |
This looks like such a torturous and emotionally scarring event.
|
that one kid was trembling as the judges reviewed the tape.
it made you think he was gonna bawl when he got eliminated, because he was wrong. I went to state twice for both years in junior high but that was it. Every time I can ever remeber having a school or class spelling bee I remember winning. Back in my day, it wasn't even like this thing that you always were able to participate in every year which was probably due to the shitty pre-high school schools I went to on the Mississippi Gulf Coast & the shitty high school in Southeast Georgia I attended. I'll probably check some of the final out tonight as I flip back & forth from The Office mini-marathon on NBC. |
Now, I'm currently in the midst of getting very busy all of the sudden.
Some days I'm busy the whole time from anywhere as early as 8:30 all the way until 6:30. |
All times are GMT -5. The time now is 09:58 PM. |
