throbbing gristle is a band where you don't need any reccomendations. all thier stuff is great. that is if you like industrial or early noise and electronic stuff. my brother HATES throbbing gristle. but he also likes that fleet foxes album. haha.

I respect Throbbing Gristle much more than I actually enjoy their music. I reeeeeeeeeeeeally have to be in the mood to put 'em on. But most of their releases that I've heard are pretty good. I thought "The Endless Not" was terrible though..

They are just so fucking important though. They are to post 70s underground music what the Velvets were to post 60s underground music, thier influence is heard EVERYWHERE. They simultaneously created Industrial, influenced Noise and Power Electronics, influenced the punks to take wierd drugs and use synthesizers and create "Post-Punk", you can hear them in much early Noise Rock; particyularly stuff like Big Black and the Buttholes. It just seems a lot of bands totally changed thier musical perspective when the Gristle came to town.

Agreed.

i remember when i got into tg all my hardcore friends made fun of me. now most of them are listening to shitty indie electro pop. who had the last laugh? it was still probably them.
