My feelings exactly. I've always "kind of liked" RR, it's just that "kind of like" is a big let down where Sonic Youth is concerned. I've felt that way about 3-4 albums and SYR 5, otherwise it's always been LOVE.

Rather Ripped is cool, crystal clean guitars. I agree that 'Sleepin' Around' and 'Lights Out' are terrible, but its definitely has its merits.

Same here, I got it the day it came out, but I don't remember why.
It was my first exposure to them.

Is it bad that those were some of my favorites on the album when I first got it XD?

Well you shouldn't, it isn't Sonic Youth. However, it's the only SYR that isn't them, so it's worth noting.

RR is my least favorite Sonic Youth album. That said, there's a couple songs on there that I can dig. But mostly I avoid this album like the plague.

Aside from Thurston hopping around when they play Incinerate live and "Or", this album is just shy of meh.

I like Rather Ripped. It took me a year to get into it because it wasn't what I expected from them, but it's a good album. But I agree, Lights Out is terrible.

I listened to it only about 15 times whatsoever. And have no intention to do that again. No good.

there's a decent bass line in one section of one song for about one nanosecond.
