does this point not defeat your own arguement, a ruler would not need to stand upsideways if it lived in a dimensionally proportional living space, constructed and tailored to it's size, where it can function freely, i.e. without having to stand on its side?

Like in the human world, universal standards must be adopted for optimal coexistence of diversity within and without species. The ruler, when lying horizontally, is significantly wider than its peers. To accomodate such a disproportionate size in the standard of construction would be ludicrous. One could apply the principles of evolution to this very situation: the absurdly wide ruler, being in the minority in that respect, naturally evolves to adapt to its environmental circumstances. This is much more scientifically logical and efficient than the other, more similar species adapting to the ruler's needs, or the establishment of structural standards based on the circumstances of an isolated anomaly. If the latter were the case, said species would quickly become resented by the others, and, if not extinguished by the technicalities of physical limitations, would be socially ostracized to the extent that they would become obsolete.

It's just easier on everyone if the ruler stands up vertically.

I like SY. The other members of this forum like SY. There are only so many dimensions of discussion on that topic.

I like interacting with fellow fans of SY because I enjoy their perspectives on OTHER music and issues. On the whole, I find them to be of above average intelligence and open-mindedness.

In regards to the appreciation of SY's music, thanks kids, but I don't need any help on that one.

And so, if my failure to beat a dead conversational horse, or to mindlessly jerk off other SY fans simply on the basis of a common appreciation, makes me a redundant poster, then I personally advocate my own uselessness.
