One thing about my guitar playing style, it's a blessing and a curse. No one sounds like me, but I usually don't like the way I sound. I'm technically decent, but I want to do things completely different. And then I just get frustrated at the guitar and want to give up.

I learnt to masturbate at different speeds in a confident manner.

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 10.01.2008 02:18 PM

I like my style.

king_buzzo 10.01.2008 02:22 PM

self awareness sucks.

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 10.01.2008 02:22 PM

Yep.

its a plus to have friends into good music, not totally neccesary. i generally have three groups of friends. my old highschool firneds, only one of them and my brother lsitens to wierd stuff, the rest are into mainly punk, metal, and hip hop. then there's my friends/neighbors who live around my apartment complex, literally NONE of them listen to good stuff, but were around eachother so often that were all the best of friends anyways, these are the people i spend the most time with. then there's the people i play in bands with and such. but in tucson, the people who listen to good music think theyre so much better than everybody it makes my fucking stomach turn.

uhler 10.01.2008 02:45 PM

almost everything i know about music i found out by myself and not by friends.

crass taught me that one doesn't need to know how to play but they still can make amazing music.

TheDom 10.01.2008 03:04 PM

listening to shit loads of hip hop for a couple months straight kinda put rhymes into my head so now i can freestyle pretty good.

kind of pointless but its fun

mangajunky 10.01.2008 03:13 PM

I learned that life can be fun.
I learned that I'm not the only one that thinks that most people in the world are stupid and annoying.
I learned that politicians are full of lies.
I learned that your parents are just as flawed as you are.
I learned that acid is interesting.

uhler 10.01.2008 03:34 PM

i have become more socially aware because of the music i listen to. well maybe i would've turned out the same way without punk rock, but it sure has helped.

I learnt the word 'pinions' from the Birthday Party's Mutiny in Heaven.

And, upon double-checking the spelling, I learnt it's also a small cog, which makes no sense in the context of the song.

Rob Instigator 10.01.2008 04:18 PM

I learned to NOT GIVE A FUCK about anything.

Pookie 10.03.2008 06:28 AM

Listening to NWA, I learned how to pop a cap in yo ass.

I agree, I used to (I'm past this now) automatically "judge" people based on their tastes. This wasn't a good thing, because I'm pretty much the only person at my school who is into music in a big way.
Anyway, I've never been able to turn anyone onto the music I listen to. Everyone seems to think "I've never heard of them, they can't be any good." or "Television/Einstuerzende Neubauten/Sonic Youth have a stupid name. I'm not going to listen to them."
It's so frustrating to be told that what I listen to is crap, when these people have never heard what I listen to. They just say it so authoritively, and won't accept that their opinion may not be correct.

A good lesson learned well.

I don't judge people by their music tastes.

Apart from Pixies fans, who are all twats.
