I'd go see them just in hopes for the possibility of a cool crowd.....I thought they sucked when they opened for SY and that kind of killed my interest in them. I might give them another try sometime.

HaydenAsche 06.12.2006 03:30 PM

GREAT? I don't understand how talentless shit can be at all great. I'll record a song of me spinning around hitting random notes on my guitar at NO RYTHM and it will be 23904820498x better than any shit they do. That's the truth. They are below terrible.

!@#$%! 06.12.2006 04:56 PM

im going to ignore most of this crappy thread & thank the poster for the dates.

i'll catch them even if i have to go to oklahoma, world capital of lice

Hey everybody

Wow glad to see we can still drum up such a fuss on the old SY gossip board. Hmm well we haven't titled that release... but I can tell you the first track was taken from a live show we played last summer in Lexington KY.. I really like that one... I think it should be called "pomp and circumstance" .. the next piece is an actual song we wrote in Montreal... we played it a bit on this last tour of Europe... it's called " the devil comes up to your door" The last piece is something we recorded in Missoula montana... one of my all time favorite shows... it features Marc Orleans from Sunburned on guitar... and I got to play a lot of Piano on that one.. It bleeds into our "I had a bad dream" song which will probably be on our next album...

Anyway, can't wait to get back on the road in America and see how it looks this year... I hope to see some of you at our shows.. I love meeting new folks and getting turned on to new bands... If you re on the fence.. come out and check out the show.. make up your own mind.. I think our suckiest shows are better than most bands your likely to catch today.. we've got Steve Mysterious from ghq on 2nd (3rd?) guitar this time out... and lambsbread is totally sick.. don't be scared off by their homosexual/fascist leanings.. they're all american rock and roll.. just like Vulcan or Anonymous... Anyway hope you all can make it out..

oh yeah ... to all you haters out there... eat a dick!

but whatever, I think that the Markers are more like a "live-band" because none of their videos or audio (just some exceptions) show how the markers really are, and if you went to see them live and didn't like them...well...ok, you didn't like them...what can I say...sorry, but I think they are great.

oh btw, this the CD-R I was talking about, I don't know the name of it, anybody knows?

Why should I listen to a band whose members can't even use the quote function correctly?

golden child 06.12.2006 11:17 PM

i have i trust my guitar and its ok, could be alot better. some of their cdrs and other records though are out of this fucking world! i saw them live on their tour with sunburned hand of the man and they tore shit up. way different then i expected, i was thinking it would be crazy ass shit but it wasnt and it was real good.

I second this... Won't be able to make the tour, 'cause I live in the UK.

But thats ok because I saw you recently over here.

Can't wait for the Nightmare before Christmas.

that's the nerdiest reason not to listen to a band i've ever heard. maybe if they brushed up on their klingon you'd be interested though?

jon boy 06.13.2006 05:46 AM

i trust my guitar doesnt really do justice to the live act. som of the cdr's are fucking loud which is a good indication of seeing them live. love em to bits.

Everyneurotic 06.13.2006 10:32 AM

ok, i knew this was coming but forgot to post it...

i saw the magik markers live and they were fucking awful, it was boring and self indulgent, it was exactly like going to a dream theater concert with all the musicless solos and flash, but instead of technique and tappings there was feedback and broken microphones thru 15 watt amps. i really expected to be blown away, how punk the shows were and all that, and they were boring as all hell.

i like to listen to a panegyric... and blues for randy sutherland at the odd day, but it's talentless people making wrongly played music without enthusiasm or anything. it's mediocre, it's "why try harder".

and i ask again. does anybody who isn't a sonic youth fan know who the magik markers are?

AND FUCK YOU MAGIK MARKER!!!! GET YOUR OWN BOARD SO NO ONE POSTS THERE!!!!!

really, i'm enormously perplexed as to why you can't pick not the slightless bit of musicality (and by that i don't mean you are too noisy, you are far to bland to be really noisy...you are dissonant at best) from all the bands you've played so far.

bye MAGIK BLANDERS.

RIPfrey05 06.13.2006 11:15 AM

Hey "cool chip", show my badass story to Elisa, unless you are Elisa, in which case...im scared of you.
JUST PLAYIN
I saw the magik markers in 04 w/ SY and i loved it.
RAWK ON, don't go the boring "refridgerator noise" way of wolf eyes.

Your comment was totally stupid, what does using the "quote function correctly" has anything to do with what we are discussing, if that's your "philosophy" you shouldn't be listening to SY, because I remember when Lee posted on the old board he didn't knew how to post pics.

I love this post mostly because you are a fucking idiot. I was being SARCASTIC.

I don't like the Markers because they are, as EveryNeurotic said, bland dissonant self-indulgent shit.

HaydenAsche 06.13.2006 11:36 AM

Obviously you care.

Then, you care. Understand? You cared enough to tell us they don't suck when they so obviously do.

Savage Clone 06.13.2006 12:48 PM

It's all subjective anyway.
Yeesh.
Joanna Newsom is a very talented singer and player who makes music I find unlistenable, for instance.
It's all personal taste.

coolchip 06.13.2006 01:09 PM

I'm not Elisa

Elisa says only 14 year olds post on here... but I showed her your story.. it was funny...

---
ps just saw your profile so im guessing youre pete? btw your website needs update, i could help if you want, just out of musical LURVE, ha ha, pm me for details (im serious).

kingcoffee 06.13.2006 10:57 PM

Both times that I saw Magik Markers i was impressed. Not so much with their musical abilities, which are kinda amateurish and still maintain to get a cool sound, but their enthusiasm. They really give it their all. And that's what I really respect. Not to mention that they make some cool noise.
