I hate when you hear people say something like "I love music, except for rap or country."
|
I've came across things like "I love all music except that shouty rock crap" and "I LUV ALL MUSIC BUT MAINLY RAP AND DANCE" etc.
Really shows for people's intelligence. |
I didn't think it was bad. Some of the pairings actually made Jay-Z sound intelligent, although the beats didn't work with the music.
I didn't recognize what Radiohead songs were used for "Dreaming Up" and "Change Order", though...does anybody know which songs they are? |
"stupid mopey bullshit # 1" and "i am using the same synth as brian eno, the same drum programming software as autechre, and i am whining over top like a big baby, and somehow this is boring"
|
Haha awesomeeeeee.

Listened to it 2wice. I give a 6/10. Standout to me is "No Karma". But there's a handful that I'll repeat listen for a while.
Strange note: This was the first 2009 release I listened to for the year. The first 2008 release I listened to last year was also a Jay-Z remix mixtape, in the form of Ravage's AMERICAN MONSTA. (Ravage is one of the remaining memebers of the "new" Monsta Island Czars... he remixed American Gangster using MIC-sounding instrumentals -- meaning a lot of sort of sci-fi weirdo lo-fi griminess. Good stuff.) |
