wavves I don't get the hype on but their (now ex I think?) drummer's side project Blessure Grave is good and his band with the Teenage Panzerkorps dudes is cool too Hollow Tongues.

It seems increasingly the case that people are more into forming band names, than bands.

pokkeherrie 02.18.2009 12:42 PM

....since last year. but like i posted above, i thought raccoo-oo-oon were better. i've yet to see wet hair live though.

you mean that split 7", right? i bought that when i saw them on tour together.

the heads played first and they did pretty much slay indeed.
then wooden shjips played and they sounded really lifeless and dull compared to how they sound on their albums, almost like a doors cover band.
then after them the butthole surfers played and they were so terrible that i walked out.
it really couldn't have been anymore anti-climatic than that.

Toilet & Bowels 02.18.2009 01:28 PM

the heads were excellent when i saw them

Yes, that one. I also have The Heads' 'Under Sided' album which is a fine record.

ps: Melly, this thread reminded me to finally burn it for you, it's been over a year!

blunderbuss 02.18.2009 02:03 PM

The Heads - Is that the lot from Bristol, been around for yonks?

Yes. Surprisingly underrated band after all these years.

blunderbuss 02.18.2009 02:20 PM

I've never heard them, but I've heard a lot of good said about them.

Beautiful Plateau 02.18.2009 03:04 PM

would've repped

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to demonrail666 again.

davenotdead 02.18.2009 03:17 PM

I am, I've made like 6 really good band names... made some t-shirts for some... and yet, i've still never been in a band. face it, the music is the least-fun part of being in a band.

pokkeherrie 02.18.2009 04:40 PM

yeah, the music is just a necessary burden to get the girls!

here's an accurate description (not my own):

"Cult electric gospel burning, flowing over layers of analog synth atmosphere and industrial trance punk. More focused around distinctive vocal, organ and synth arrangements, with touches of live drumming giving way to drum machine pulse and electronic spew. Melodic, upbeat, focused, dark, warm, cold, catchy, and confusing, Wet Hair is just beginning to grow into its own possibilities."

when their upcoming lp "dream" comes out, GET IT, it's amazing

MellySingsDoom 02.19.2009 06:25 AM

sarram - cheers for the burn, nice one :)

pokkeherrie - thankx for the Heads live link - awesome sauce.

They had a lot of their earlier records for sale at ATP In Between Days which I thought were long out of print. I think they've been re-releasing some of them.

Heads On Fire and Glitter Glamour Atrocity are their best albums I think. The latest s/t one is alright, but nowhere near as good as the other two in my opinion. But their recent EP Stolen Stars Left For No One is fantastic.

White Hills are one of my favorite bands in the last few years. They have also been very kind to my band, which is flattering.
I see their guitar player very much as a kindred spirit musically. It's like he shares my exact sense of musical intuition.
