The only Xiu-xiu song I know is the one about cumming on some guys lips. I've heard other songs of his but never payed them much attention. I think I gave Zelienople a listen because they are named after my town, but I thought they were bland. Windsor for the Derby is an OK Joy Division/Interpolish band. They had one song that I played as a bin cut on my radio show last year quite a bit.

I did listen to a lot of stuff when I DJ'd (we had to review albums each semester) but I can't remember all the band names, most of the shit that came into the radio station was utter crap. Leading me to believe that indie rock labels with a few exceptions, are just as shitty as major labels. You should read the press papers they send these CDs with.

The coolest stuff we got was experimental stuff. I really dug that. We would ocassionally get box sets, I remember we got a Fall box set.

Most of the stuff I played on my show was on vinyl though, there was rarely stuff in the bin that I really liked.

I cant tell you what is exactly wrong with your amp, but I would take it apart and check to see if your input jack is cool, and check any other wiring.

You should precaution him that his amp could have large capacitors holding deadly charges and he should know how to properly discharge them before he does anything.
