Thats Davina McCall, one of the most painfully irritating and downright mentally vacant women on British TV. She now presents the worst peice of broadcasting in British history, of course... Big Brother. |

This is easily one of his best interviews. Josh Homme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MXIKe7UirY |

did i really wrote that ?forget it i´m sorry |
a recent nardwuar email included this postscript to the 1991 interview:
The record that got broken was "Charlie Browning" by The Young Men from Seattle Washington, released in 1963 on the Bolo Record Label. (Bolo 742) I had brought it to the interview because I had heard (incorrecty) that Sonic Youth had recorded a version of The Coasters hit "Charlie Brown" and I hypothesized that perhaps that they would be interested in seeing a Northwest take on "Charlie Brown". When I say "Northwest take" I mean that The Young Men took "Charlie Brown" and changed the words slightly to "Charlie Browning" in honour of a local football player. I personally love when songs get "regionalized" and that damn 45 was dear to my heart! Luckily I was able to find another copy a few years later in a Bellingham ,Washington Value Village. Furthermore to my amazement,, I was told, that while opening for REM at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver in 1995, Sonic Youth dedicated a song to me: "Schizophrenia" ! |
a) thurston is blazed
b) i'm going to punch nardwuar in the balls if i ever see him anywhere. |
i just watched this again recently, ahahaha. "this is jack kerouac from sonic youth."
i like watching nardwuar interviews, but if i was subject to, uh, that... i'd probably clock him. if i could. |
Never been a fan - it's just always bothered me that he gets a LOT of face time with some great artists (look at the ones listed here) on a station that doesn't give enough REAL exposure to those bands - and he blows it on stupid questions and irritating drivel... how much cooler could 15-20 minutes of Sonic Youth interviews (on that tour, of all tours) been if handled by someone else?
As an Internet forward, he makes a lot more sense, but when you grow up with MuchMusic being your only video channel, and THAT being the only way you see cool "alternative" bands interviewed - it just grates a little. |
although he's fucking grating, he does dig deeper into things, and asks totally different questions from the average interviewer. most of the time, it doesn't work. more often than not, it's useless creepy shit. sometimes, though... i mean, i'm not even into the horrors, but i watched a fairly recent interview with 'em... the serviette makes some ol' connections, brings some things to an audience that otherwise wouldn't pick up on that.
if only nardwuar got that in depth without that squeaking tweak persona. |
Nardwaur is the greatest interviewer of all time! His band, "Thee Evaporators" are one of the greatest Canadian punk bands of all time. Anyone who doesn't see his geniusness is an idiot!

HAHA oh those guys.
