I've never posted this elsewhere on this board because I didn't think it mattered, but I met Obama. He came to my old high school about a year or less ago and did a speech. I decided to attend, though I secretly was hoping Hillary Clinton would win (just to have that sexy hunk Bill Clinton back in office). Afterwards, he met with people and shook hands. I shook his hand. They were cold.

i realise this sucks and all and the kids would have been very disappointed but, you know, things like biggest economic crisis since the great depression, not to mention the myriad other issues the guy has to deal with, i'm sure there was something slightly more pressing than visiting a school... or maybe he couldn't be fucked.

...and at least it prepares your son for the soul-crushing series of disappointments and letdowns that is LIFE.

the school came to him. 18 of them flew to DC for the event. this was scheduled months in advance.

again, the reason he's not attending is not the economy, war or disaster (these I would understand). he's getting an honorary degree from the university of arizona. if it were me, I'd tell the UofA, thank you, but I've already made plans. it's not me though. it's just another Smile E. Gladhands.
