I think I would go just for that reason.

floatingslowly 05.28.2009 11:36 PM

that statement almost implies that I think I'm cool.

I do not.

but it's a relative thing, you know? am I cooler than a soccer mom? maybe not. soccer moms drive awesome minivans that hold up to 8 comfortably.

EVOLghost 05.28.2009 11:37 PM

Maaaaaaan I was the coolest person in high school(not)

floatingslowly 05.28.2009 11:43 PM

I would say that my group of friends was more feared that thought of as cool.

rumors of black magic and the usual jock-inspired rabble.

I defer to the Tarkin Doctrine (Imperial Communique #001044.92v).

Are you afraid that everything will pretty much be entirely the same and that you'll have to deal with all the same categories that everyone placed eachother in, even though in normal world you have become quite a bit different? It's like dealing with faces and stereotypes of the past.

I dont know, I dont have the energy to get to know people on a blank slate on a day to day basis, let alone allowing people from an emotionally attatched past to have a blank slate "for maturity's sake" and to get to know them then.

It's a room full of people. Fuck it !

The thing about high school is that you're just as annoying and frustrating and shallow to people as they are to you. Whatever, it's just four years.

_slavo_ 05.29.2009 04:44 AM

I was at an elementary school reunion last December (note: I finished elementary school in 1994).
I thought it would be awkward as I literally haven't seen most of the people since 94 but it turned out to be such a crazy party ... we all got terribly drunk and had shitloads of fun remembering the times when we were kids.

verme (prevaricator) 06.02.2009 11:11 AM

so, how did it go?

floatingslowly 06.02.2009 11:20 AM

it was fun. I think I drank too much though (I'm still recovering).

a few people that I really wanted to see didn't show and a few that I hadn't expected did.

however, overall, I think that's it put me into a funk. it kind of sucks that everybody I know lives 3(+) hours away. it also kind of sucks that I'm no longer going to be able to avoid facebook.

Kloriel 06.02.2009 11:24 AM

hi verme, what does your name mean if you don't mind me asking?

on reunions: been to one, and I'll go to another. not really a big deal but i certainly didn't have much of a blast. I'm not sure anyone is ever the same person they were, even if one might perceive them as the same. I could be wrong though. Would it make sense if I suggested to go as a stranger?

floatingslowly 06.02.2009 11:32 AM

more people seemed the same than different.

except for Simply Red. he's the guy in school who had Simply Red hair and wore a Simply Red shirt.

these days, he looks like Smeagol/Gollum and wears a Joy Division shirt instead. many a penny were dropped to see if he thought that it was The One True Ring hitting the cave floor. he didn't. he knows the difference between a penny and Sauron's gift.

jon boy 06.02.2009 11:53 AM

i have never been to one and i doubt that i ever would. the people that i knew from school that i wanted to stay in touch with i have but the rest i have no interest in seeing ever again. i get contacted by people i hardly knew on facebook and it just seems so futile some of which want some kind of reunion but i express no interest whatsoever. why do people do that on facebook, send a friends request because you randomly talked to them in a corridor in 1993?

Kloriel 06.02.2009 11:56 AM

because we're moving

Rob Instigator 06.02.2009 12:46 PM

I have never gone to a reunion. 2011 is my 20th high school.

won;t go to that shit either.

^ Same here! I have never gone to a reunion either. I still talk to anyone that matters from Highschool. The only things I might enjoy about a reunion is the free booze and seeing some of the skinny bitches that are fat now and the jock cocks that are bald and un-roided.

The entire reunion scene though from 'Zack & Miri Make A Porno' is the best!

Brandon: Hello Miriam.
Miriam Linky: Beat it, we're talking.
Zack Brown: I just wanted to introduce you to Brandon.
Brandon: Salutations.
Zack Brown: Bobby's boyfriend.
Miriam Linky: Bobby who?
Bobby Long: Bobby me.
Zack Brown: Brandon, uh, is the star as such adult fare as, what was that one called again?
Brandon: "You better shut your mouth or I'm gonna fuck it."
Zack Brown: That's right. I'm surprised I forgot that.
Miriam Linky: Are you fucking with me?
Zack Brown: [amused] No, they're fucking with each other.
