my favourite post-Daydream too! EVOL is still the best though...
|
i dunno, it's not as good as dirty, exp jet set, washing machine, a thousand leaves, and rather ripped.
|
Yeah it's great... especially the Karenology - Radical Adults - Plastic Sun - Sympathy axis.

Yes, the Axis of AWESOME. God, I am too clever for my own good sometimes. |
Haha the axis of awesome, I like it.
|
my opinion: Murray is the last good SY album
|
murray street is in my top 3 SY records. I think this record is amazing, perfect, beautiful. Of course #1 is Sister!

Absolutely. |
Yeah. There are better albums.

Its the cleanest from the first song to the last.

Does anyone else love Rain On Tin as much as I do?
"we all hope to signal kin days of gold now rain on tin gather round gather friends never fear never again" |

I do. |
It's absolutely stunning, isn't it? From the opening crash of the cymbals to the melodic interlude and the final epic sound scape.... As if Sonic Youth captured divinity and encapsulated it in a rock song... So much melody... :)

Definitely. |
The best straight-up guitar album they've released. Rain On Tin, Strawberry, Radical Adults...hell, the whole thing except the way-too-long Karenology. If it were cut 5 minutes shorter this would be my favorite album. Just my opinion...
|
this is being the hardest of their records for me to get into, and with the way people talk, i feel like i'm missing out on something.
someone help. |

Karenology is perfuckt. I wish rather ripped had just one moment of sheer abstractness like this on it... "Or" should just linger for 20 minutes of ambience like Karenology or the Diamond Sea. |

well i'm not the biggest fan of that one either, but "pattern recognition", "mariah carey", and "peace attack" were enough to make it not bad for me. nurse is better all at one time, rather than listening to individual songs. |
I rather think it's a bit too lengthy to take in one sitting... :) As for Murray Street, I think there is a bit of a running theme there you have to understand. A sort of proper mindset; which is the beauty of New York art and culture... And the abstraction of noise and how they fit it into rock. The cover of Murray Street is a good approximation of the abstract, sublime beauty that lives in the sounds of the album. A bit too wordy, I think... Hope it helps... :o
