definitely my favourite Sy record. It just blows me away. I got Sister after it, but it doesn't affect me in the same way DDN does

kingcoffee 06.25.2006 10:13 PM

It's easily one of the greatest rock and roll records of all time. And certainly one of the best SY records. They haven't made a record anywhere near as important and influential as Daydream Nation. And I suspect they never will.

kingcoffee 06.25.2006 10:13 PM

It's a shame that more people don't know about this record.

Geofoco 06.25.2006 10:24 PM

I love Teenage Riot, it was the 1st SY song that I heard, but I rember so much a exgirlfriend when I hear it, cause she like´s so much make love with this song.......

yeah I think its the album Sonic Youth will be remembered for. Its such a brilliant album! but i think it also helped the record having possibly the greatest cover art ever and such a brilliant name, its so eye-catching you kind of have to hear whats inside!

i don't really have any coherent thoughts, but when i read the liner notes.. god. the whole "...going over awaterfall, and really liking it" is exactly how ddn makes me feel.

maybe saving sister, i've always thought of it as the ultimate steve album. goddamn he can pound.

Jutte Koethe is a female German artist who lives in New York... She has collaborated with Kim on two art projects.

Daydream Nation wasn't a real landmark album for me because when It came out I had already lived through their s/t ep, Confusion is Sex, Kill Yr Idols, Sonic Death, Bad Moon Rising, Flower, Evol, + Sister.
It's still an amazing album... but they've done better things since in my opinion.

bought it because a good bud K. Cobain reccomended it. i loved it from the very first listen. every song fuckin great

Anarchos 06.26.2006 06:01 PM

Someone needs to invent a word great enough to describe Daydream Nation. From the moment the needle hit the record til the end, I felt that my ears were not worthy of such excellence. Cross the Breeze is still my favorite song of all time from SY and any other band, for that matter. There's really not even a way I can aptly put it into words.

I first listened to DDN on one of my first visits to my mom's apartment after she cheated on (then left) my dad. I'd sit in my cold, empty room, with a stereo and a big dusty mirror. I just remember listening to it all in one sitting and thinking it was my best friend.

Rob Instigator 06.27.2006 09:27 AM

Daydream Nation is the single greatest album in the history of recorded music.

SONIC YOUTH is the single greatest band in the history of recorded music

is that specific enough for ya?

Rob Instigator 06.27.2006 09:28 AM

It is SCRUMTRALESCENT

The new official word to describe the greatness of Daydream Nation. Purely scrumtralescent. I also propose that from now on, when something is good, we refer to it as sort of Daydream Nation-ish; when something totally fucking rocks, we call it half a Daydream Nation; and when something is utterly god-like and beyond words, we call it almost Daydream Nation. Yes... Sounds good to me.
