When are they gonna make this a federal holiday? I could use another day off.
|
I thought they did?? Patriot day right?
|
No. It's not an official federal holiday. I'd know, because if it were, I wouldn't be a-working.
|
no, but it is a national volunteerism day
|
Not the same thing. That is so bogus. I want a REAL holiday.
|
three of my classes today involved watching 9/11 videos. one was about digging through the aftermath and was especially depressing.

If we made it a holiday and started "commemorating" with cook-outs and beer and fireworks, it would become a lot less depressing.
How about a Samuel Adams From the Ashes Commermorative Amber Ale. Anyone? |

...This seems pretty absurd. Quote:
And you wonder why they don't make it a federal holiday? You're really cheapening something that was horrible by acting so glib about it. Why don't you stop and fucking think for a second about the people who lost their lives? And I'm not one of these 9/11 faggots who think it was the worst thing to happen in the history of the planet and that it CHANGED EVERYTHING. But you make me realize how stupid I was in Jr. High to think that it wasn't that important and that people should just get on with their lives. And at your age you should be a lot more mature than a stupid contrarian jr high jackass. |

Ha ha! OK, see you at the VFW, motherfucker. I';ll buy the next round of Pabst. |
Thousands and thousands of people die a day. If this happened to a group of people that weren't middle class American then it wouldn't almost be this much of a big deal.
It still was a sad event though, I'm not denying that. |
Word. What about the thousands a year who die from cigarette-related cancer? Who's going after the tobacco companies anymore? Anybody? I don't see a war against tobacco growers.
|
What about the thousands of people in third world countries who die A DAY?
Absolutely no one gives a shit. Maybe if they had decent first world jobs, a house and cars then someone might care. |
Exactly.

whatever you say buddy.. but America has a terrible history of supporting brutally oppressive regimes which rely upon terror tactics and mass imprisonment.. I say America has the philosophy in its arsenal that says "whats good for the goose is good for the gander.." further America already has an extensive history of abusing its own population. if it can happen with american guns and money and troops in places like Colombia and Iraq, why not here? If American forces can incarcerate arabs and latin americans, why not americans? If it happened in the past to Indians, Africans, the Japanese, what separates us from them? nothing.. |
I've always viewed 9/11, tragic as it was, as karma of sorts for our country's sins.
