OK, nothing wrong with it.

He is interesting, but I've always seen him as more conniving and deceiving than intelligent. Kinda more of an "actor". He's always known just how and when to make "crazy eyes" to keep people at distance, but interested all the same. Also as an intimidation factor, he's played into and over acted the "crazy" thing. I see him as very feeble and intimidated, but just acts all crazy to intimidate threats. I think he's just intelligent enough to know when and how to act crazy to maintain his reputation. I guess that could be interesting, but I wouldn't consider him intelligent.

.... but honestly, I haven't read any books or anything by him, so I sure he's full of wisdom, that I don't know about.

we watched some video of various manson parole hearings in my law class. bananas.

the swastika is a symbol of peace, maaaan.

I feel dumb for thinking this was the bitch with the diet before reading the thread.

artsygrrl 09.25.2009 08:08 PM

haha, I just told my Dave (aka Pincho) that Susan Atkins died and he said, "You mean of the Atkin's Diet?"

jennthebenn 09.25.2009 08:11 PM

I'm a true crime buff and frankly, Countess Bathory, Genene Jones and
Belle Gunness are the female killer triumvirate.

I thought everybody knew that... but you should mention that the swastika used before the nazis was inverted or something. They aren't exactly the same.

I don't understand these killers who "repent" and "find God" while in prison or whatever. They think that because God has forgiven them, then why can't the rest of the world? It's so fucking hypocritical. Find God on your way to Hell, bitch.

How is it hypocritical? The whole point of Christianity IS to forgive. Isn't that why fictional character Jesus died and then came back to life and still loved people, instead of taking his revenge?... Maybe I'm too forgiving of a person myself -- as I've said elsewhere, I was beaten, molested, etc. but I forgave the person. But (and this is what brought up that thread the other day that I made about it) my mom, on the other hand, will never forgive the person, still wanting to go beat her up and all this stuff -- you know, my mom is more tore up and revenge-seeking than I am, and I was the one who actually got slapped around and my dick played with! Haha. But, sure, I'd forgive someone who murdered my family 40 years ago, when they were a different person, as well. Hell, in a way, I'm probably more Christian than any actual Christians! Who's to say, she probably did "find God". What's the difference? If the world was more "forgiving", then the world would be a better place. Maybe.

It's interesting what you said, though, because I posed this question to a preacher when I was 12 years old. I've only went to church maybe 15 times in my entire life and this was one of the last times. I asked him.. if a person is "saved" by God and then goes on to murder someone, will he still go to Heaven? And the preacher said "anyone that believes in God will go to Heaven."

Of course, having read the Bible in its entirety twice, I seem to recall there being many points in it where it talks about how there's a narrow way to Heaven and only few shall enter the kingdom. But, you know, the Bible is a book for a society that existed hundreds of years ago and probably has no bearing on the society we currently live in (especially with all the revisions to it and whatnot). It's like someone worshipping my fucking t-shirt in 500 years from now.

Regardless, it may not be "cool" to say, but I'm sure Susan Atkins probably did feel bad for what she did... I am part of the world who forgives her, I guess.

...and because of certain events in MY life, I am too jaded and untrusting to be anything but jaded and untrusting.

God save us all?

chicka 09.27.2009 10:27 AM

Forgiving Susan Atkins and the other women is one thing let them out of jail another. I can forgive them for being stupid young little hoodsies who were manipulated by a con man but they still have to pay the ultimate price for the ultimate crime. The death penalty is too easy a punishment imo.

Manson was not intelligent in the sense of a high IQ he was book smart from the reading he did in jail for I think robbery before he formed his little tribe.

manson is extremely intelligent.

his childhood was extremely fucked up and he was constantly on drugs from early adulthood through his conviction. the only thing that set him apart from any other drug-taking "hippie" at the time was the fact that he managed to get young, horny, naive girls to listen to him because of his charisma.

the only reason the manson family got so much shit is because susan atkins and a few others (NOT charles manson) killed a pregnant actress.

Charisma and intelligence aren't the same thing

Lurker 09.27.2009 05:04 PM

Nope but I've never met a moron who was charismatic.

infinitemusic 09.27.2009 05:26 PM

Actually, charisma is one of the many things that can fool morons into believing someone is much more intelligent and worthy of following than they really are.
