there's not. well you don't have to deal with fucktards because you can delete them from your page.

i run my pack off facebook. we use it as a messageboard. you may or may not have noticed, genteel.

atsonicpark 10.13.2009 10:12 AM

I don't know any of you guys in real life.... It's like I'm confessing to a preacher when I talk on here.

SONIC GAIL 10.13.2009 10:13 AM

How can you be sure?

well then facebook actually makes more sense huh because 99.9% of the people on there are real life friends.

atsonicpark 10.13.2009 10:14 AM

Because I would've gotten into some big trouble by now.

oh well i like my friends.

and i don't think it's reasonable for you to make any judgements about how much time someone spends on facebook ... honestly... sitting in front of the computer is sitting in front of the computer. you do a lot of it. (as do i)

Yeah, there is no difference. I was asking that precisely because when I read someone saying that facebook is odd, and then I see them posting pretty much about every single detail of their own life on here, I wonder what they might find all that odd about it.

Genteel Death 10.13.2009 10:19 AM

Facebook is more genteel.

girlgun 10.13.2009 10:19 AM

mmmmmmhmmmmmmm totally spot on.

Yeah, well, when you've dated someone who'd rather sit on Facebook all day instead of going out and doing something... and then complaining later because she wasted her whole weekend sitting around doing nothing and never being able to get out and do anything... I mean, it's kind of annoying.

I don't care what people do on their computer, but I do find the whole social networking thing kinda odd. "I don't want to hang out with you in real life -- but I DO want to know what you're doing/your mood/your 'status'/your interests." Um, alright then! I think the internet as a whole is making us a lot more inward, disconnected, and withdrawn. Also, message boards are at least somewhat anonymous still.

girlgun 10.13.2009 10:36 AM

well i think that's probably not always the case. i have known some men to never stop playing video games. so it's not something specific to a "social networking site"

packofgirls has several halloween parties to attend over the next couple of weeks. we've been coordinating event dates and times, shopping days and costumes....all on facebook. but then again... we're pretty awesome.

Genteel Death 10.13.2009 10:39 AM

They're not all that anonymous if your posts become popular, and you become a popular poster. Besides, anyone can create a bogus facebook account. It's much easier to embellish things on a forum, especially one of this kind, because quirkiness is expected, often with some tragic results when one can't keep up with it. On facebook you are expeceted to act more like yourself, wich I can imagine can be difficult if you already have issues with the way you deal with people in general.

atsonicpark 10.13.2009 10:43 AM

Ah.

floatingslowly 10.13.2009 11:26 AM

I feel that I've lost interest in most forms of social networking.

the only difference between message boards and facebook is that you can't troll yr friends.

although I wouldn't know anything about trolling friends, because I don't have any.

Genteel Death 10.13.2009 11:30 AM

I'm not sure why, but I find the idea of trolls a bit twattish. I mean, I don't care when someone is messing around on the internet because they just like wasting time or not on it, but when someone thinks that they are that smarter being a troll all the time, I don't know, I just find they can easily end up acting like a predictable twat.

SONIC GAIL 10.13.2009 11:31 AM

I don't got no friend's either just a lot of aquaintances. Me and my man live in our own little deranged land.

floatingslowly 10.13.2009 11:46 AM

being twatish is the only thing that keeps me caring.

and it's not about being "smart". far from it. it's about disengaging the think-machine.

if that makes people on the other side punch their computer monitors, so be it.

again, the only difference between here and there is, I don't have to get phone-calls asking if I'm serious.

anyways, no need to worry yr head over it. I'll let y'all get back to thinking that yr above twattery.

floatingslowly has left the building.
