Ok just finished listening to the record.
Some notes after a first listen, the order in which I listened to it. Thurston side A: Starts of with the chiming strings and cymbal rufflings you can hear in White Whinged moth records with the pace picking up and going into full throttle. Sounds from Thurston's disk Pillow Wand with Nels Cline spring to mind as well. Jim side B: This one starts off with gnarls of feedback which reminded me somewhat of the Bad Moon Rising era (to me at least) with Steve Shelley holding a steady rythm. Occasional plonks behind the bridge marking the SY sound. Lee side C: (This one is my favourite) The melodic parts are really soundtracky and totally groove and sway around - man i could shoot a flick around these sounds. Some more arranged sounding sounds evolve into heavier wrecking and turn into more noise. Steve side D: Starts pretty much like the first Dyskaholics track with one guitar strums and then the behind the bridge droney sound. This evolves into somewhat louder riffs as they interlock into each other throughout this track only to ease down the pace and pick it up again. At the very end the sounds fade out leaving some silent resonating sounds and I could swear I heard people clapping at the end. sonicl? weren't you gonna do a review? EDIT - there is a A B C D marked on the LP's, just so big I didn't see them. Funny enough the order in which i heard the LP was the correct one. |

I only had time for a brief listen before having to put my turntable into storage, so I'm afraid I can't really post much of a review beyond "It's brilliant".

So what do you guys think of it?
I think that this is priceless piece. One of best improvisations from SY i heard lately. Love it. Well done. |

This is awesome, just what I've wanted to hear from them for awhile...I put it on CD and my buddy processed the CDr to take out the crackle and pop from the turntable (is it just me or is this kind of a dirty pressing?). So I listen to it at work with headphones over and over.... its also the first SY lp I've wanted to frame! There's something really appealing about Kim's painting here (and then I get the Thurston solo lp wih the Kim poster insert from Blossoming Noise which is similarly appealing!) |

I would assume that the "dirty pressing" is because it was recorded direct to acetate? |
