Maybe, but I do love the improvised stuff. Imagine Kim Gordon and Keisha from the Sugababes throwing lyrical skills around whilst the rest of Sonic Youth and Aphex Twin jam like demons behind them.

Kim Gordon, Shakira, Victor Wooten, Steve Vai, Steve Shelley
SYR7 Language: Brail |
I'm not sure if I would be so into the Kosugi session if it was indeed taken from the same session as SYR4. something about the album doesn't sit well with me. it has a similar feel to the Fontaine collab, slightly restrained, conceptual to the point of almost being too abstract and disciplined.
I think this varies from J'Accuse Ted Hughes which reminds me more of SYR6, SYR3, which is more like straight from the source intuitive improv which for me is a direct continuition and/or rock equivalent of free jazz and is inherently more exhilarating... |
How would you like your SYR7?
sunny side up with a side of lsd, please |
music that sy did for movies should happened tho and would be great, but if it will happen it wont be as syr 7 i think.
anything mentioned above sounds interesting. |
maybe official complete peel sessions release?????
just a thought |
the Brigitte Fontaine session will probably never see release because of Fontaine's management not giving the rights to any other record label to release her work... which is absurd.

yuh-huh. except i dont have 2+3+5+6 |
Laraine Newman used to do a hilarious character that reminds me of how I picture Brigitte Fontaine.

I agree |
Yeah I've also been dreaming about a collaboration with jazz musicians. It would be cool.
|
I just hope there's not as long a wait for SYR7 as there was for SYR6.
|
I'd like to have J'accuse Ted Hughes plus that unreleased session, but in fact I think they should release them all :D
On a 1998 interview for french magazine Les Inrockuptibles, Thurston said they were friends with Tricky... It would be cool to have a session with him... Sessions with artists from other spheres should be really interesting. Ah, and, a Sonic Youth + Liars session would be absolutely great :D |
I want something a little bit noiser than 6, with loud guitars, kim vocals(like on hidros 3, just not as aggressive) and some electronic beats. That would rock. Or that Briggite Fontaine thing would be nice, but probly is not gonna happen.

The Muller site has remove it from it's upcoming releases section so I guess it is not happening. How about Enrique Morente/Mike Watt/Steve Shelly and others for SYR7? Steve mentions something on the Pedro show. |

fuck no!!! i want to hear that, günther müller is fucking madman, the quiet intense ones, i'm really interested to hear what he could do with lee and marclay...the more i think about the more curious i get! |
i can't decide! all of it would be pretty neat. why don't they release it all? they should. i'd buy it all.
|
i have them all and 1 and 2 are my favorites. Hopefully SYR7 will be in that league.
|
all of the above
|
I like what I have, and I have several, up through the Goodbye 20th Century thing, but can there be too much of a good thing? For me, the law of diminishing returns has set in, and I'd not be much interested in another SYR, I don't think.
