static-harmony 08.29.2006 02:24 PM

!@#$%! 08.29.2006 02:25 PM

i have a meeting in 30 minutes. that's total rubbish.

i have avoided rubbish movies for a while but the last i saw was happy gilmore-- what crap! though there are funny moments. but adam sandler's "regular dunce with a talent" characters and their sappy stories really get on my balls.

No, not rubbish. It's excellent.

There are a ton of movie versions, but I've only seen one. It wasn't rubbish either.

Let's see...swing dancing = rubbish.

static-harmony 08.29.2006 02:52 PM

No Polka dancing and music is rubbish.

Alex's Trip 08.29.2006 02:53 PM

I wathced "The Chumbscrubber" which was rubbish. A complete ripoff of Donnie Darko, too.

luxinterior 08.29.2006 02:53 PM

Do you like to swing dance? Do you like dancing in general? If not, it should be rubbish.

Savage Clone 08.29.2006 02:54 PM

Partners dancing is funny to me.

static-harmony 08.29.2006 02:55 PM

I only dance when my niece is here, but then again we just jump to any Sonic Youth song or any Be Your Own Pet song.

well it's rubbish if you have a teacher who takes 1 hour to read one page aloud to the class explaining the meaning of every single sentence. also, they could have done without all the crap about her childhood.

atari 2600 08.29.2006 03:46 PM

My dealer went to Vegas last weekend & he's surely back by now, but won't pick up his phone which means nothing's going on...rubbish.

Try and and read the Divine Comedy while paraphrasing everything at once and it's enough to make you want to reach for that bottle of martini rosso.

Let us hope nothing happened to him. Dealers in Vegas can't be a good thing.

To be honest I think you're right about the childhood parts. Whenever I think of the book, and the parts that I enjoyed immensely, those are not among them. I could go into an argument about character formation and all of that, but my own tastes wouldn't be in line with it.

I did not realize it was the sort of book that required an in-depth analysis of each sentence...which isn't to say that it doesn't mean anything, but the book is very wordy. And I hate using "wordy" to describe any book, because all books contain words. What I'm saying, really, is that you have access to all of the main character's thoughts, so every situation presented is elaborated upon and picked apart in her head for us to see. In other words, the book explains itself. I didn't read the book for class though, I just read it on my own time, so I wasn't required to overanalyze it.

i haven't read jane eyre. victorian novels tended to be quite wordy. those bastards had to describe just everything, so i am generally reluctant to assault their pages.

that said, wuthering heights, by charlotte bronte's sister emily, is one of the best books ever.

but to analyze word for word? maybe they're trying to counteract the effects of ADD-inducing diets and teach people to pay attention to details. or maybe it's just some sadistic fuck who doesn't want to spend time preparing his lessons.

I think that apart from Toilet & Bowels, everyone else's posts in this thread are a bit rubbish.
