It's the sound of a Volkswagon being dragged across a city by a 747. It made me ill when I first heard it. Seriously, I wanted to puke. But it pulled me in...I came back to it...and now I bow before it's monumental power and glory. I have 100 Merzdiscs, but AK is the one I come back to most often. It's absolutely purifying. This isn't just thoughtless noise. It is ingenious how he layers and carries it for 73mins.

He IS the man, and to me its precisely his layering that sets him apart form most "noise" artists. Sometimes the aural landscapes are just incredibly defined and layered. So interesting...

I've been listening to metamorphism a lot recently, in my opinion the best thing he's ever done. also, satanstornade with russell haswell is most definitely an essential recording, two absolute masters at the top of their game. those two seem to have an understanding so far beyond most (others on a similar level include daniel menche, john wiese, kevin drumm etc., the big hitters of noise).
