Refer to k-krack post above.

I do believe Porky's point is that there is no point in playing an "exact" cover version, because without some new insight or interpretation put into it, it will never be remotely as good as the original.

I agree with this. The only possible exception would be cruise ship bands and the like, whose audience would most likely see "interpretation" as "mistakes."

Playing guitar it's jus a hobby...you just play songs that you like from groups you like, you don't get nothing...

porkmarras 10.09.2006 02:30 PM

We got there just about and in saying that,i'm sure we all know that some bands can improve a song marginally just because of their musicianship.I might be wrong on this but Huske Du's cover of 'Eight Miles High' is vastly superior to the original,it's just my opinion and i'm not certainly and in no way saying that i play an instrument as well as probably some of you guys do.

It would just make it more difficult...i think almost all sy songs can be played almost as they sound with ebgdae tunning (standard tunning), exept for those songs like the burning spear, that was played with the Drifter guitar (r.i.p.) and with drumsticks between the strings

porkmarras 10.09.2006 02:33 PM

My point is also that i think it is virtually impossible to play a song exactly as,say,The Velvet Underground did or Sonic Youth did.I just don't see the point in even trying but as i said,i'm a shite instrumentalist at that.

porkmarras 10.09.2006 02:38 PM

Classical dudes?What's that?

Savage Clone 10.09.2006 02:40 PM

I thought you were talking about symphony players.

porkmarras 10.09.2006 02:41 PM

Oh i dunno, you lost me there.

Rovetu 10.09.2006 02:43 PM
