Well, my idea was that you posted one with all three mixed in, AND a track of whatever you contributed. This is good for two reasons. The person who contributes next, has the track with everything mixed, and, if for whatever reason, they have the each track individually, allowing a little more freedom for the whole thing.

but how do we post a track? and what sort of file must it be. i have lots of guitar tunes i can add right now to start the ball rolling.

MP3 should work. Use a hosting site such as yousendit or badongo...

I'm listening to the beat and trying to figure out what to do - keeping the bass simple (like a real repetitive groove) or more songy with a few changes and stuff. I'll work on it tomorrow at the practice space.

There's gotta be some free multi track recording software somewhere.

It depends...I don't know much about computer recording programs. Maybe someone has some input for a good one to use.
