I'd be very surprised if this were to be the artwork for Rather Ripped. The picture is by Richard Prince all over again, you see, and I'd be bummed if they just went on that road again.
Furthermore: the Nurse painting series is of pretty recent date, the 'toilet picture' as some of you like to call it must be like twenty year old work. Richard Prince did a series of shots from publicity photography in magazines (rephotographing the magazines). I doubt they'd go with such easy implementing of cool. |
I like the cover art just fine, more than anything I like the tiny understated font. It seems they are promising big things by having such a plain font.

hey first i thought it is a toilet. then i realized it is not. |
yeah i thought it was a toilet too!! is it real, its fair cool

nice cover

It does seem rather strange that they would go for a Richard Prince cover again.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. |
it looks great.I really hope it is the real one.

Maybe Byron Coley could start a bullshit rumor in a press release that Nurse and Rather Ripped are the first two parts of an epic trilogy about Richard Prince... or his mother... or his taint... or something. And then, everything would be good. |
Actually I was thinking something similar!!
|
so where on myspace did you find this? and where did they say they had it from? we can't be sure about it being the real cover art if there's no source info... remember that fake coachella line-up poster for instance.

i think thats really cool looking. they have this kinda recurring aesthetic of 50s pinup style female imagery. i really like that, and the image does have a cool dark feel about it.

I second that |

That's not bad. They don't have a typical look for their covers do they? A good thing.
|
Yeah, you never really know what your going to get. I find this an exiciting part of buying a sonic youth album. The picture looks better seeing the full original, i.e. not like a toilet.
|
this looks cool... i don't think it's necessarily a bad thing using the work of Richard Prince again... in pure visual terms (diregarding who made it and when) i think it works.... with a title like rather ripped i imagined less subdued artwork so... lot better than i expected... and it would look great on vinyl.... i am still quite dubious as to whether this is legit or not
|
i honestly don't think it looks that cool.

I'm sorry I offended your morals. What am I talking about? ![]() Duh. |
Yeah, but that has nothing to do with SY picking their art.....completely irrelevant.

How do you know? Quote:
It's relevant to me. I'm the one who doesn't like the artwork. |
