The Phantom Menace isn't good but Episode II...what a bore. Although I like the Kamino scenes. They're the best in that movie. Obi-Wan is rather cool. Edit: Lucas said he intended to give a film noir feel with that "detective Kenobi" scenes. Well film noir is too much, just to say it mildly, but either way I like them. Other than that...pretty boring crap. |

There are a few other good things about the special edition- like when the falcon arrives at Yavin and the guy has the scanner and you see nothing, you now see the Falcon in the distance. Most of the CGI space shots look pretty good, except for the Reporting In/Lock S-Foils approach scene. I freaking hate that shot. Also, they added a scene where Biggs and Luke talk before the battle. I knew that Biggs was important because I had the Star Wars kids picture books and they include the tosche station scene in the ANH one. I was excited when the Special Edition was coming out because I thought I was gonna see the Tosche station scene with Luke and Biggs but it disappointed there. I sort of think it sucks that Lucas won't release old deleted scenes (although I did manage to see it eventually) Oh, plus the Special Edition didn't catch a lot of bloopers that initially made it past (after Vader kills Kenobi and the blast door is closing, you can see his lightsaber is white because it wasn't rotoscoped) My main gripes with the Special edition were the horrible CGI additions, the additional wampa shots, luke's scream when he falls which was subsequently taken out, the changing of the "bring me my shuttle" line and additional scene added, "jedi rocks", and that they took out the Ewok celebration song and added the scenes showing all the planets celebrating. |
empire is the obvious choice, i voted phantom menace because out of the recent ones, i liked it the best. the acting in the new ones is what drives me crazy.... it's just not believable-mostly hayden anakin, but i think lucas doesn't let his actors become cozy with the characters long enough for them to fully realize them. ewan obiwan got better by revenge of the sith, he wasn't doing a alec obiwan impressiion by that point, he bacame the role. i think, anyway. the first 3 rule of course, i saw all of them in the theatre- i remember seeing star wars at the drive in, yo.
my rankings: ESB SW ROTJ TPM ROTS SW:CW AOTC i have the 2 ewok movies on vhs that i bought at a garage sale, but i haven't been able to bring myself to watch them yet. |
okay, I'll make a list.
1. RoTJ 1.5. ESB 2. ANH 3. 4. RoTS 5. 6. TPM 7. 8. 9. 10. AoTC |

"Jedi Rocks" is sooooooooo awful. :D I also didn't like C-3PO's explanation about how to disconnect the main reactor (edit: sorry, the tractor beam, I'm a bit sleepy) in A new hope because his voice was so different. |
Good night people. Or should I say "May the Force..."
No I better don't. |
No love for the Ewok Adventure movies guys? Come on, Wilford Grimley is in the 2nd one and Burl Ives narrates the 1st one! And in the 2nd one, the guy from Breakfast Club portrays Cindel's Dad!

Anyone here seen this atrocity?:

No and thank god.

rumours that lucas want to do another SW film , a prequel to the prequels, it will start with
"not so long ago in a galaxy far away" |
and the prequel-prequel-to all the prequels-ever prequelled: "yesterday, in the bathroom".
|
"Right now, like right friggin' behind you."
|
And to top off all the prequels of prequels to the prequel-prequel-to all the prequels-ever prequelled
Then God said, "Let there be light..sabers"; and there was light..sabers |
By God you mean George Lucas? Damn.

Possibly the only bearable part of this monstrosity. Is it me, or does Han Solo look like he's had a stroke in this cartoon? Regarding the rest of it, "highlights" (including unsubtitled Wookie grunting for the first 10 minutes and Carrie Fisher "singing" the Life Day song) make this a viewing experience even more coma-inducing than "Turkish Star Wars". An LP of this as well? Argh!!! |
Multiple choice, now.
I choose Return and maybe New Hope. |
Supposedly the plot of the new Indiana Jones movie deals with Area 51 and the theory that aliens are the origin of religion because they came along time ago and gave us technology.
What if the aliens happen to be Yoda's species? Oh noes! |
Oh Nose!

I'd sort of agree with DR666 here - the move to Yoda/Cloud City in the middle of the film really drags out the exposition somewhat. If only Lucio Fulci had directed these sequences - at least someone would have barfed their intestines up. |
...and for anyone who still thinks that the Ewoks are ironically cool, watch this and be forever sorry:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=su6kl...elated&search= EDIT: In the early 80's, my dad's wife worked for the company (Warners?) who dealt with Star Wars-related stuff in the UK then. As well as the 2 Ewoks movies (yeech), which she told me about in 1983, there was also meant to be a film about the bounty hunters (Bobba Fett etc). I guess George Lucas was so balls-deep in Ewoks, he forgot about the potential Fett-fest. |
I watched some of ROTJ today. It's still as good as I remember.
I will never get over how coolly Luke just flips back up off the end of the diving board and kills the guy who was pushing him into the sarlaac pit. Kick ass. |

^They're supposed to be eating some concoction of herbs, mushrooms and stuff from Yoda's whereabouts. Seems like Yoda was a vegetarian.
