Anyone else going to see him in Glesga on Sunday naw?

Just back from Glesga. Not bad. A bit lacklustre compared to the last time he played here and exactly the same material. I suppose though he doesn't really have a big back catalogue to draw upon anymore. Weird seeing him below a couple of other not hugely known bands on the bill at this festival at the ABC - last time he would've been in this particular venue would have been the Don't Look Back ATP Daydream Nation tour.

Just out of curiosity, did he boycott Israel in the end? Cuz I saw something to that effect on Facebook.. but surprised I didn't hear about it on this thread or anywhere else on the board..

I saw them on monday in Lyon for a kind of a last minute / secret show. They played 1h30+ and played most of The Best Day as well as a couple new ones (and Ono's Soul too as an encore). Really amazing set, great sound, great feeling. It was a small venue (200 people is packed) so I guess that was the best conditions to see them... great great show !

So you were both there? Because I just read your comment... I haven't seen you :( The gig was fucking awesome, I haven't expected them to sound like that, good energy, nice new songs, especially the Ceasefire one, which probably was the highlight for me, but the whole gig was really intense (2 encores, and we hoped for third one) I've bumped to Thurston again, and I saw Steve watching the support.

The Vinyl Factory partner with Whitechapel Gallery for programme exploring the intersection of visual art and experimental music.

Taking place throughout the autumn at the contemporary east London gallery, the Music For Museums project has lined up some of the most important and pioneering musicians and composers for a series of shows that challenge the contexts and outer limits of sound and space.

The programme will be split across six weekends (performances will take place on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons), each of which will explore a different element of experimentation, from Fluxus to digital minimalism.

Having both been treated to critically acclaimed solo shows at The Vinyl Factory’s Brewer Street Car Park this year, Ryoji Ikeda and Carsten Nicolai will renew their creative collaboration as cyclo. for a one-off performance on the 18th October, taking their place alongside experimental electronic musicians Florian Hecker and SND’s Mark Fell on the diverse line-up.

The programme will be concluded by performances from Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Rhys Chatham, who cut their teeth in familiar surroundings on New York’s downtown no wave scene in the early ’80s, as musicians took sound back into the gallery as part of the emerging avant garde.

As well as live performances, Music For Museums will also include a free programme of film screenings exploring the intersection of sound and visual art, with contributions from legends like Nam June Paik and emerging provocateurs like Cory Arcangel.

Music For Museums will run from 17 September to 29 November at Whitechapel Gallery. See the full programme below and visit the galley website to book your tickets.
