Neil would pick Bob. Bob would probably pick Bob too.

SuperCreep 01.01.2010 04:24 PM

neil a million times over and over. i love bob too, but i'll be damned if he isn't one of the hugest cunts to ever walk the planet.

hat and bread 01.01.2010 08:12 PM

Well said.

Neil Young, a million times, Neil Young.

alteredcourse 01.02.2010 02:27 AM

I've actually been driven to tears over the gentle verses of neil young, with bob dylan I'm more like "woah, how many bleating verses must a man rebleat until he reaches his point"

Edit. Nyar, I just get defensive about ol Neil. Bob is good, too.

Dylan. There's nothing wrong with Neil Young though, I love some of his albums, but Dylan is in his own league for me.

wellcharge 01.02.2010 07:28 AM

dylan, not that i particularly love either

Green_mind 01.02.2010 08:46 AM

If I was given a choice between either going to see neil young or going to see dylan, I'd have to go with young. The man was thrashing out sonic shronkage from his guitar whilst sonic youth was still just a twinkle in thurstons youthful eye.

Bob Dylan once said that his secret heroes are Neil Young and Lou Reed.

Keeping It Simple 01.02.2010 02:46 PM

Neither.

Neil Young. I went to see Neil 3 or 4 years ago the Greenville (?) tour where he played the whole album then played a few oldies for an encore I'd never seen him before and I was sky high with a list a mile long of songs I hoped to hear. I didn't sit still and I didn't give a rats ass that he didn't play any oldies he was fantastic. I saw Dylan very disappointed.

So both can make a great album but only Young can bring it to the masses.

DanielCarlson 01.02.2010 03:02 PM

Well, I would absolutely prefer to see Young live. I saw Dylan last year, and while I didn't expect too much, I was disappointed. Young on the other hand is lots of fun live.

demonrail666 01.02.2010 09:56 PM

The bottom line is that Dylan is God and that if anyone sees him on a bad night that's just akin to meeting God while he's tying his shoelaces.

Silent Dan Speaks 01.03.2010 04:01 AM

Well, Neil Young didn't become a parody of himself, so I think I'll go with him.

Genteel Death 03.18.2010 03:53 PM

This should have been a pool indeed. Neil Young makes mince meat of Dylan as a guitarist alone.

Derek 03.18.2010 04:06 PM

Neil Young's songs and his general sound appeal to me a hundred times more than Bob Dylan's ever could.

chrome noise tape 03.18.2010 04:26 PM

neil young...but please don't call him father of grunge! what is grunge anyway?

Derek 03.18.2010 04:30 PM

Clothes that are too big and boring "dirty" riffs.

FreshChops 03.18.2010 07:16 PM

Both are great but I think as artist, Dylan is both more original and creative..... up for debate of course, by my view.

Onani Nic 03.19.2010 03:00 AM

Neil Young by a million miles (and also Steely Dan)

atsonicpark 03.19.2010 04:09 AM

Don't much care for either one, but Neil Young's "MY MY HEY HEY" is a masterpiece, even if he sounds a bit silly singing about Sid Vicious.

Not true at all. Neil has a lot of shitty music. Dylan has a lot more shitty music, but he has written more good songs than Young has written total. Dylan's influence on music is eternal and worldwide.

They both played on The Last Waltz, and I think Young's performance was superior to Dylans.

And while Dylan was a Wilbury (which personally, i enjoy the band), Young was producing garbage like "Trans."

They both have made amazing music and have made amazingly bad music. The good outnumbers and outweighs the bad with both musicians. I would say that Neil Young is more consistent; however, Dylan has not only written and produced (or otherwise contributed to) nearly twice as many songs as Young, and something should be said for that alone.

Bob Dylan has worked with almost every amazing musician of his era. He also got the Beatles high for the first time (or so rumor has it).

It's a tough call, for me at least, but I gotta go with Dylan. Neil Young is the better musician though.

ann ashtray 03.21.2010 03:07 AM

Dylan ain't got a damned thing on Mr. Young.

loubarret 03.21.2010 04:58 AM

Both their last albums were shit. And On the beach>highway.

TheFoxBen 03.21.2010 05:16 AM

Neil Young.

It's better to burn out then to fade away. Well yeah, he is right still about Rotten.

batreleaser 03.21.2010 12:32 PM

Dylan, though "On the Beach" was the best thing recorded by either.

skofo 03.22.2010 10:52 AM

Bob Dylan without a question, but I am a fan of Neil Young too.

SuperCreep 03.22.2010 11:14 AM

i listened to highway 61 revisited for the first time in a long time yesterday. i don't know if i just wasn't in the mood for it, but i found myself less enamored with it than i used to be. it's great, don't get me wrong, but i feel on a "song" basis, bringing it all back home and blonde on blonde are eons better.

SONIC GAIL 03.22.2010 01:43 PM

zimmerman

kierkegaarden 03.22.2010 06:57 PM

I prefer Dylan, he asks more of me. Songs like "Ballad in Plain D" and "Brownsville Girl" still disturb me into feeling through life like it were some articulate and religious thing.
