No, hasn't really started yet.

RdTv 04.07.2007 03:22 AM

In that case I want in, if there is anything left that isn't spoken for.

Gulasch Noir 04.07.2007 03:59 AM

How generous! I'd like to participate too! If you don't mind, because we barely know each other ... Paypal would be fine with me.

Toilet & Bowels 04.09.2007 01:54 PM

won't you get charged with paypal?

whatever method suits you best is fine with me though.

From being on this board for a while now, I know that there are people here who would appreciate the type of music I'm talking about, and I would really love my records to go to somebody who will get pleasure from them.

So what do I do?

I'm certainly not going to spend time listing them.

I had an idea that I could post bundles to people if they wanted, say a random selection of 10 and you pay postage. Or people could list wants, and I could post them out if I had them (but this could be too time consuming and complicated).

Would anybody actually be interested?

i would be interested but only in the good ones.

Cheeky beggar! You have to take the bad with the good.

Because of my honesty and generally friendly nature, I can't go back on this deal, especially considering the (mostly) lovely people involved.

But if you had a way of transporting them back to London, you'd be welcome to come and pick through my 12"/LPs in exchange for lunch.

Lots of very dodgy stuff, but a few gems left.

Toilet & Bowels 04.09.2007 07:14 PM

i would say that i'd come to wherever it is that you live (depending on where that is) but i fear that such a venture may cross the bounds of what is proper in regards to the internet

hey alex 04.09.2007 09:35 PM

I'll be down for this too-- if you have any sebadoh that'd be cool-- but i'm not picky. A grab bag of the strange and the punky would be awesome.

What would the postage cost from within the states? You think?

HaydenAsche 04.09.2007 09:37 PM

Do you take checks or are you like McDonald's?

I intended finding out postage costs today, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow now because I forgot to bring my dummy package to work.

Pookie 04.12.2007 07:44 AM

I found out the postage costs today. Brace yourselves:

For 10 7"s:
UK: £2
Europe: £4
US: £7.

Considering the costs, particularly to America (about $14!), if people still want in, I would be ok with posting lists for people to pick from - on a first come, first served basis.

That way you won't be paying $14 for what may turn out to be 10 records you hate.

Let me know what you think.

sonicl 04.12.2007 07:56 AM

Is there any C86-type stuff in there? Can I have a copy of the list please?

I'll get a list together. I might do it in chunks maybe, a few records at a time.

Off the top of my head, there's some C86-type stuff: Shop Assistants, Mighty Lemon Drops, Bodines, Bogshed, Soup Dragons, Miaow, Half Man Half Biscuit, Big Flame, possibly Primal Scream.

And I've taken the paypal charge into account.

Danny Himself 04.12.2007 08:23 AM

Could I just post you the money?

Are you sure you want to do this, though? This is a big part of your youth you're offering to give away.

This is the missus's fault isn't it? Did she give you an ultimatum? Tell her you won't be bullied this way! (Or is she clearing out something that's dear to her too?)

Do you know, ever since my record collection got to the stage where it was a huge job transporting it from house to house as I moved, I've had a desire to get rid of it all, and start all over again. I secretly hoped that somebody would come and steal it so I had no choice, because I never thought I would have the nerve to just get rid.

Over the last 3 or 4 years, I've sold over 2000 records, and I've now got to the stage where I'm fed up with all the hassle of selling individual records, particularly 7" singles, which go for such little money, it's hardly worth the effort.

And here's the corny part:

I've considered charity shops, or dealers. But I know a large proportion would end up in the bin. And I'm sentimental enough to genuinely want my unwanted records to go to somebody who will appreciate them. That's why I thought of you lot!

Incidentally, I have some 12"es and LPs as well, but I'll deal with these first I think.

Danny Himself 04.12.2007 08:37 AM

I'd be interested in those 12"s...

You can't have them, Danny, you're too young!

Don't worry, I'll give the young'uns the rubbish ones. They won't know the difference.

Iain 04.12.2007 09:27 AM

Wow, I thought it would cost more than that to send 10 7"s.

Are you going to do a random thing or post a list? If you are still going for the random thing then I wouldn't mind taking quite a few off your hands if that's not too greedy.

Danny Himself 04.12.2007 09:31 AM

I saw the postage, Pookie, I just through you'd be asking more money for the records. Like, £5 each or something.

I can do random, but I'll be posting lists for people to pick from for those who prefer that way.

Yes, that's right, to you it's £5 each record.;)

Danny Himself 04.12.2007 10:17 AM

You'd be lucky. You're getting 2 pounds and a nice thank you card, and you should be thankful. Thats more than I ever got when I was a child!

Cardinal Rob 04.12.2007 10:47 AM

Am I late for the party?

If not, heh, I'd pay moneys for what you're offering. Postage only though obvs. =D

Toilet & Bowels 04.12.2007 07:29 PM

about how many 7s do you have then?

Пятхъдесят Шест 04.12.2007 08:48 PM

Am I supposed to send a PM your way Pookie?

Yes, anybody interested PM me, and say whether you want a list or just a random selection chosen by me, and if paypal is ok or if you'd prefer to send cash for postage.

pokkeherrie 04.13.2007 08:37 AM

ah, if it's not too late i'd like to take part in this as well.
i can do paypal, just have to decide if i'd be going for the list or the surprise package.

Let me know when you've decided. Just bear in mind that the list is already getting shorter as people pick from it.

sonicl 04.13.2007 08:45 AM

I'd pick from the list if I was you, Pokkeherrie, otherwise you're probably going to end up with a pile of Showaddywaddy singles.
