It was fun. I had all these posts that I went in and copied and pasted into a text file from searching their posts. Then, it was great fun picking a choosing which quote to use that would sound like I was really just in the thread and not give it away too much. Haha, but they all gave so much away, the posts I used were only two weeks old or so at the most, yet people did not notice for a good while...a period of a several hours and about 30 posts being made. Cantankerous tried to turn the tables and do it to me with my own posts and I, of course, haha, caught it the first time. I just tried to search the threads for a minute, and couldn't find it.

I've been listening to so many '72 and '73 shows lately with Taylor's slide...ah!

That's classic. Do you still have them? And want to share? It would great fun digging them up and using the judiciously from time to time. Could even code them, say, with a special color, to clue people in that it was a tanky quote.

Taylor was so awesome. Those classic 68-73 albums would not have been as great without his contributions.

Definitely. I like his playing in '69, Altamont and such, but man he starts to really cook in '72 or so. Of course, his playing on Sticky Fingers is particularly amazing studio work too.

It's crazy how the Stones allowed themselves to really be kind of shown up by the wunderkind on all these tours, but yet, when he demanded more songwriting credits, they axed him. I guess Keith figured that a lot of people attending big shows would just assume it was him busting out those hot licks...haha. And Taylor had to put up with a bunch of shit too. He can really be heard a lot on Sticky Fingers and that's because the Glimmer Twins were too smacked out to hardly ever show up to the studio at the same time. By the time of Exile (which was only mostly cobbled together from a bunch of separate studio sessions), Taylor sort of sounds like he's just going through the motions, but he really outdoes himself on some of the tour performances.

Yeah, the biggest mistake the Stones made was not giving Taylor his due. He helped make them what they were, and they treated him like shit. The beauty of that period was how Taylor and Keith were opposites that complemented one another's style. Ron Wood is too much like Keith to create that same kind of chemistry.
