I got a child's accoustic the other day for £10 and it's currently in
F# D# B A F D |
D
G A E F# A |
I started playing in B D E G A B recently; it's a modified Guqin tuning.
What I'd like to invent is a guitar that is constantly and obviously going out of tune as you play it.. like, as you play single notes, the guitar is going out of tune (without you having to detune it yourself)... though I guess this can be accomplished with a second person helping you out... which I've recently been experimenting with (I was playing some complex arpeggios for a new song and my friend was fucking with the volume control and pickup selector and spinning the whammy bar around as I did this and it sounded amazing; hardly a new concept but I'm trying to forge a new aesthetical practice of the "two people playing the same guitar" composition). |
Oh shit, I just learned that Agato from Melt Banana plays in FAEACC#
new tuning! |
EBBF#BE which I came up with this morning, it's nice because you can play power chords on the 3 lowest strings, the top 3 are tuned in fourths and you've got the doubled B for cool double string action.
Maybe other people use this one... Anyone ever buggered up their axe with some abstract tuning??? |
DADFAE. it makes a pretty open tuning.

that's agatA. what was he playing in before? |
Standard, and sometimes Open C:
CACGCE, tuned to low C |
Standard tuning because I'm not a pretentious artsy fag.

Mainly just metal ones.
Yeah, I play major chords depending on the song. |
Metal major chords? That's heavy, no pun intended... Have you ever worked in the D Phrygian Major scale into your guitar playing? I like its middle eastern tonality...
|
ah yes. it's that minor 2nd between 1st and 2nd and the 5th and 6th scale degree. it's totally system of a down-esque. \m/
|
nope
|
nope-ope.
|
sorry, it's agata, brain fart.
i think he always plays in that.. i don't reccomend tuning your guitar to that, unless you have some loose strings, your strings WILL BREAK in that tuning.. |

maynard = too much fucking metal for one hand. \mm/ he's gawd. a sometimes hairless gawd. |
Quote:
ah. it's a wonder he doesn't break his strings when he plays. he's nutty and plays with a fucking metal pic. |
yeah. what's his fucking secret.

like a fucking rock. oh man...shit just came full circle, huh?

Somewhat, though I refrain usually from making absolute statements...

All those E B tunings sound good. I had a tuning E B E E B E, I think it was, sounded real nice. Not good for any lead guitar stuff though. |
Quote:
that's pretty unmetal of you. metal is the absolute. metal is the infinity. |
And I was kidding about not being a pretentious arsty. I have several alternative tunings. I have them written down somewheeeeere. Eh. But yeah, my Jag is tuned to standard right as of now.

Lately I've been playin CA#D#ACC a lot
|
I fucking hate it when strings unwind.
|
I never tune my guitar. It was tuned to standard and then I stopped tuning it. Even though I own a tuner. It sounds muddy as fuck now but in a good way. i also never change the strings.
|
my guitar was in standard tuning, but i'm sure it's out of tune now, but i don't care. tuning annoys me a lot and i'm usually too lazy to tune my guitar.
