the best/worst ed wood film = orgy of the dead.
the "novel"/script is credited to him, but the directing isn't... but some believe the director's name is just a pseudonym for wood, because all of wood's actors (criswell, ghoulina or whatever her name is, etc) appear in it.. anyway.. check it out.. |
Little Miss Sunshine (it's been mentioned already)
The Squid and the Whale Leon: The Profressional (or whatever it's called where you're from) |

I've seen clips of it in the movie "Ed Wood: Look Back in Angora." It looked positively awful. To my recollection I've seen Plan 9, Glen or Glenda, and Bride of the Monster. |
haha, i actually own every ed wood film, except his soft core porn(s?)... i'm not sure if orgy of the dead counts in there as a soft corn porn.. so yeah.
he's one of my heroes actually. |
Oh my God, Tetsuo Iron Man is the best movie ever.
|
Shortbus, its great.
|
Quote:
I actually thought it a rather bore. SO self-absorbed in its own plot. But if you want porn, go for it. |
Quote:
I found it really human and honest. But yeh, I guess I just am immune to porno and didnt notice it so much. :D |
HOT FUZZ.
|
You know what movie sucked? Screamers.
You know what movie was awesome? Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy |
I'm not sure how anyone could find Tetsuo BORING. Dislike it, maybe, but BORING? I mean it's only like 60 minutes for christ sakes..
Anyway, a movie I forgot to mention.. and we're slowly backing away from cyberpunk here, so I will go ahead.. WILD ZERO. |
"The Holy Mountain"
"El Topo" |
The Education of Sonny Carson
It's about a kid growing up in NY gang life circa 1970's. It was sampled by Ghostface on IronMan & has a great message. |
el topo is my favorite film of all time.
|
yeah, just ordered that Alejandro Jodorowsky box set and Space Is The Place. Saw Holy Mountain a long time ago and quickly became the wierdest and best thing I've ever seen! but wait to check out El Topo!
My advice is to get into a new genre/director and start exploring all the best titles. Last year I went through a big noir period - started with The Maltese Falcon and went right up to Orson Welles' Touch of Evil. Good times for all involved. |
yeah, the holy mountain is technically better, but i prefer el topo because it focuses on one person... Holy Mountain has a lot of the same ideas and it's more visually amazing and better in every way... it just... I dunno. El Topo seems to speak to my heart more.

Manos: The Hands Of Fate
or Taxi Driver not really what you're asking for but whatev |
taxi driver is my OTHER favorite film of all time and the film i've seen more than any other.
manos is also amazing. get the non-mst3k version. it's a very very creepy film. the jazz soundtrack and the lighting of the seconds and the just overall disconnectedness of the whole thing is overwhelmingly dark... |
i probably like fando y lis better, santa sangre is also fantastic, so are the other too, i need to see el topo again.
|
Fando is excellent.. beautifully abstract.. Santa is weird, I like it a lot, but... it actually may be his weirdest film... I'm not exactly sure what message it's trying to convey... still, excellent... Jodorowksy is a hero...
|
re santa sangre: it's more like a straight forward horror movie, i mean straight forward directed by jodorowsky, of course.
it's more developed than most of his movies, it leaves less of you to try to fill in the gaps, but it still works like the others. |

I'm glad I am not the only one who though that soundtack was just a little too creepy ![]() |
I meant lighting of the "Scenes" of course.
Yeah it's creepy as fuck. Anyone can find the non-MST3K version for real cheap.. it's public domain so you can probably watch it on youtube or something... Classic film. "I AM TORGO. I TAKE CARE OF THE PLACE WHEN THE MASTER IS A-WAY." |
I don't know if I could watch Manos without MST.
Some of the movies are entertaining enough to, but some of them. . . |
watch the police academy movies, that way you wont see anything worse. well, after part 4 at least.
|
nah, the worst movie i've ever seen (and I own a little over 500 movies and watch around 300 new ones a year on average)........... well, it was either this film called I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE TOO (which had nothing to do with i spit on your grave, it was just trying to cash in on its success) or the vampire biker midget film ANKLE BITERS. but those are low budget shit fests done with a camcorder, and those usually always suck... so, I'm going to have to say matrix revolutions is actually the worst film I've ever seen.

I've never understood why people collect films. How many are you going to watch again? |
I've watched nearly every film I own more than once. I'll watch 'em with friends, my girlfriend, or just for self-enjoyment.
Note that 95% of my movies are gore films, rare exploitation, and B-movies... I tend to think most movies can just be rented from the library or will be on TV, so I just get the harder-to-find stuff usually. And then share 'em with my friends and whatnot as well. Fun. To put things into perspective, maybe, I couldn't IMAGINE only watching a David Lynch film once. |
I got to a point where I had the beginnings of a film 'collection', but I sold most of them and now I'm down to about 3 or 4 films which I know I'll watch again and again.

No, it really isn't, as a fan of the series that movie was an insult. |
The Nightmare at 10,000 Feet part was pretty good I thought. John Lithgow played the part really well. The other ones were meh.
