MY 8bit music is Stray Square
. Not that you care. |
Is that emotional blackmail?
|
Not 100% Australian per se (thanks to the membership of Sir Epic Soundtracks), but I'd include Crime and The City Solution's "Just South of Heaven" mini-LP as being up there with the best Aussie music. On a more "industrial" tip, SPK's "Leichenschrei" still holds up pretty well to my ears.

are you sure about that? |
I know that B Russelll worked for Flying Nun...ah, wasn't it Robbie Yeats of the Dead C who is an ex-Verlaine? I think Mr Russell was in Wrecks Small Speakers On Expensive Stereos at that point.

Didn't Mr Anal pointed out a while ago to me that it wasn't the case? Uh? |

Robbie Yeats was The Verlaines' drummer.
Other great Australian albums which weren't a part of the series: Ed Kuepper - Electrical Storm, Everybody's Got To, Today Wonder, Honey Steel's Gold The Aints - Ascension The Saints - Eternally Yours, Prehistoric Sounds Laughing Clowns - Law of Nature, Ghosts of an Ideal Wife The Scientists - Blood Red River |

There's more of these coming,
The Go-Betweens - 16 Lover's Lane Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Murder Ballads Hunters and Collectors - Human Frailty Powderfinger - Odyssey Number Five I'm disappointed that Ed Kuepper, the Laughing Clowns, The Birthday Party, These Immortal Souls, The Scientists and The Aints have been left out. Hope there's a third season. |

I've been hanging out for this for awhile. should be great. especially the Go-Betweens and of course NC& the Bad Seeds. |
Let's be honest.
Nick Cave is the only decent thing to come out of Australia. And he's an honorary Brit. |
16 Lovers Lane is a gorgeous album. GORGEOUS I SAY!
|
^^^Too damn right there.
|
The Swing beats anything in the thread, including Junkyard.
|
Is that the album by INXS?
|

and I forgot to mention before, Ed Kuepper wasn't left out. the Saints were last series, which were the most influential band he's been in to date. they're not going to do every musical project he does til the day he kicks the bucket. |

I think they'd be more inclined to repeat artist such as Nick Cave with the Birthday Party and the likes. They've not yet touched on a bunch of bands that are considered 'classic', AC/DC, INXS, Midnight Oil, to name a few.
They're cool specials no matter what the band. The last series was 4 great artists though. |
Has the Nick Cave one aired yet? I've seen that the DVD is available to order on an Aussie website, and I'm wondering whether to get it.
I have to say, I'd have chosen a different album to Murder Ballads, but, hey, I didn't make the series, so what right do I have to criticise? |
Every time I see the title of this thread, I have a little giggle.

There is an double CD called "do the pop: australian garage rock sound 1976-1987 " which is excellent! I guess the title says it all; the Saints, radio birman, fun things, victims, scientists etc...
